Auto e Moto d'Epoca - loads of classic Abarths on show
« on: November 01, 2011, 10:14:56 am »
I popped over to Italy for the weekend, to visit the Auto e Moto d'Epoca held at the Fiera in Padova (Padua) which is the largest classic car show in Italy. With 15 exhibition halls, it is vast. I am still not sure that I managed to see everything that was there.  There was a heavy emphasis on italian cars, with more than a few rarities which even I did not know what they were (nearly of which turned out to be Fiat based cars from the 1960s). There were loads of classic Abarths, which I thought people here might enjoy.

Rarest Abarth was this, an Allemano Coupe. Some of you may recall seeing the convertible version of this at Brooklands a couple of years ago.

Loads of 750 Zagatos.

Even more of the 850TC/1000TC cars.

This 1300TC was very droolsome.

Some of the more sporting cars.

There were also loads of the rather cute Autobianchi A112, one of the first supermini hatchbacks, more sporting versions of which were badged Abarth.

The 500 Zagato staged another appearance.

With a whole array of 1950s racing Maseratis, an Alfa 159 Alfetta, and three stunning Alfa concept cars (Carabo, Iguana and 33 Coupe), the Lancia Gamma Hatchback, 3 x Alfa 6C 1750s, a couple of Bugatti EB110s a Ferrari 599 GTO, loads of rare Fiats, a couple of Presidential Lancias, there was so much to take in

You can see the rest of the 524 photos I took in this album: http://s143.photobucket.com/albums/r139/colinrear/Auto%20e%20Moto%20d%20Epoca%202011/?start=all

I flew out to Bologna late on Friday, for not a lot of money, picked up a rental Panda, and stayed in a hotel nearby. It's about 1 hour up the A13 to Padova, so this is very do-able for a weekend. I think I will repeat the experience in 2012!

Now that I'm a grown up I drive a sensible grey 595 Competizione with grey leather sabelt seats and yellow brake calipers. It's jolly nice! It's got a name - ' Razzogrigio' Now with a custom S/S group N style exhaust, black Esseesse wheels and a GTT induction kit, all sitting on Eibach springs.
