Best Auction House To Sell My Classic Abarth 595SS?
« on: January 25, 2015, 01:05:03 pm »
Guys,

I am considering selling my Abarth but which would be the best auction to sell it?

The Goodwood Festival of Speed or the Goodwood Revival spring to mind?

Any thoughts?

Did you see the one on the Lou Macari website ?  If I recall, it was about £44k.

There is always Bonhams, but I think their fees might be a little high.

BCA do a classic sale at Blackbush twice a year, usually brings quite a crowd and they throw a lot of money advertising it before hand.

First of all, I should say I have very little experience of car auctions, apart from attending a few as an interested observer - not Bonhams at Goodwood, I refused to pay what they wanted for admission! As far as I can make out, their commission rates are similar to pay day loan companies i.e. usurous! Guess, to some extent, it depends on which part of the country you are from as an auction reasonably close is always going to be more convenient than one at the other end of the country! You might want to have a look at Anglia Car Auctions in Kings Lynn <www.angliacarauctions.co.uk>.  They had an auction yesterday, their biggest so far I believe. They appear to charge 5% buyers and sellers fee and offer free storage and nationwide transport.  I guess questions to ask any of them, apart from what they are going to charge you if successful (or not for that matter!), is what sort of success rate they achieve.  Hardly original but hope that helps and good luck!
Nov 2012 A500, officiano red, 17' petals but otherwise standard (wife beats me severely about the head and body if I talk about customising but I did buy a logoed folding umbrella!) I just love it - the car that is! well, and the wife!!

Thanks Guys although the concensus is that I should keep it unless I really need the money!

But will it ever increase in value to the same extent of Ferraris etc?
