Interesting.  Not a look I've seen before.

The car is rather quick and very stable, but a real truck at slow speeds (under 15mph).  

It doesn't want to idle down really well, and the jetting is too rich.  I haven't had a chance to play with that as yet.   It runs a tiny bit hot, but fortunately it has a thermostatically activated electric fan with an overide manual switch so you can keep it on if you wish at all times.  I also haven't checked the plugs, and it may need one step hotter ones.

It seems a lot quicker than many of the 1600cc or 2 liter Alfas I have owned.   I took it out at Portland (Oregon, US) International Raceway, and had the speedometer pegged at 200kph (126mph)..I have no idea how fast I was really going.  

I used to race an ex-factory Mini Cooper 970 some 30+ years ago, so I have no problem with cornering with the inside rear wheel half a foot off the ground 

1st through 4th are fairly close together, and 5th is an overdrive, so you need to go down to 4th to climb steep hills.   The controls (such as the clutch pedal and steering) are rather stiff, especially compared with something like my daily driver 2009 Hyundai Accent.

Yes, it's a Bertone badge on the rear, and just below the bottom edge of the top, it is a Martini sticker that looks like it's been on the car since new.  The Martini Racing stripe on the top of the dash also looks like it's been there many years...it covers a crack on the dash top that I will have fixed.  There is a similar crack on the top of the dash, above the steering wheel.

What I find strange is that on Series 2 cars, there appears to be an indentation in the middle of the grille that the Fiat badge sticks into...on this car there is no indentation??!!

The Martini stripes and the Abarth badges look to be as old as the car.   Only the Martini stripe covering a crack on the top of the dash looks to be fairly new.   

Where did this unknown "Abarth" suddenly spring from??

just found a press picture of a cabrio, confirms the bertone badge on the front grille and no fiat sloping bar emblem, thinking about it, doesnt make sense to have fiat emblem on front and bertone on back
the cabrio badge on the front occupies the space of the fiat badge on the standard front grille, on the strada abarth the scorpion was at the side of this badge, reckon this is a standard strada front grille

same period x1/9s had bertone badges front and back and no fiat badge
