My old 130TCs & 131 Sport
« on: February 03, 2009, 10:36:04 pm »
Just thought that I would scan in a few old photos of the 3 130TCs and the 131 Sport that I used to have.

First off is my first grey Mk3 130TC. The first picture shows it with Mk2 Pirelli alloys, taken from a spares / repair car that I ended using for spares. The second and third pictures show what happens when you meet a Mondeo coming towards you on your side of a country road.  :o

Is that Del Boys 3 wheeler in the background?  ;D
Seriously though, I have no photos but my first 130 TC looked just like that but in yellow.

This is the second 130TC that I had. It was a black Mk2 that had been in an accident and I think that I got it for £300 as a complete car?? I did consider reshelling it in a 105TC, but ended up stripping it, using some of the spares and selling the rest for much more than I paid for the car.  ;D

I also ended up selling a number of the bits on the first Mk3 and probably made more than if I had sold it pre crash, as it was a little bit ropey, (mainly doors).

:D :D :D. No I don't think it is. I have a funny feeling that it was something like a Morris van that was a guys that used to come in my dad's pub. I took him home once in it, because he was too drunk to actually drive it, (didn't normally stop him). What a piece of s**t.

Had the 131 Sport for just under a year, whilst I had the first two 130TCs. It had a modified engine and VERY LOAD exhaust. It was faster than a standard 130TC, but never got it tested to find out how powerful it was. It was great fun, but my girlfriend, (now the wife) hated it, so I sold it in the end. ::)

Are you sure about the Del Boy connection (look at the number plate!!) :thumb:
I had more 131's than I care to remember including an estate version. Even the estate handled well and would take on most things from a standing start at the traffic lights :thumb:

This was the last 130TC that I had. I needed a car fast, as the 131 had been sold and I had just crashed my other 130TC.  ::)

I ideally wanted a nice red, or black one, but even in 1994-5, 130TCs where a bit thin on the ground. I saw this one for sale and it was only about 20 miles away from me. It had FSH, was pretty much immaculate and was a very good price. I bought it straight away and didn't even haggle, which is unheard of for me. I probably ended up spending too much money on modifying it, but when it was finished, it would keep up with most things and still looked pretty standard, (until those Sparco alloys went on it).

I never did like that number plate.

131's were great fun. I also had a pale blue 1600 twin cam that I had before the strada, but can't find any photos of it.  :(

Bought for £60, smoked around in it for a year without touching it and sold it to a couple of nutters for £50 who rallied it around the local woods. ;D

A nice photo of the seats, (I loved those seats). And some photos of it with the Sparco 15" alloys on it. I really liked those alloys, but it was a better drive with the 14" alloys on really.

The Seats, ahhh the memories. Not great to get in and out of and the chances of getting some action was next to non without a trip to casualty afterwards  ;D When you were driving the car though, you felt like you were rally driver. Bless Abarth, great memories. :thumb:

They were indeed great cars. It is one of the few cheap cars that I would actually still feel pretty special in. They have that similar 'focused' feel that you only normally get when sitting inside something like a Lancia integrale, or Alfa SZ.

I even saw those Recaros in an old Porsche 911 2.7 Carrera RS once and that is one serious drivers car.

    Hey!
Can't believe that we've owned the same car.
And what memories it brings back.
I've actually have the paperwork for the E231 RUE still.
Took them out after you wrote about the car on the Fiat Forum.
Thanks for the photos, they were fantastic
