What can i say.....

There PDI has a lot to be desired.

Went to pick up my new car it had paint chips and scratched on it in more than one place it was as if no one had looked at the car….

It’s gone down hill form there.
I have been misled on more than one occasion about problems with the car being told “they all do that and its normal”. And it’s only when I have researched the problems on the net and by asking other dealers and then telling them that they are known problems how to fix them do they then admit it’s wrong and then try to fix it.

When the do admit there is a problem you take the car in, they do not ring you to tell you its fixed you have to ring them and ask????  When you ask have the fixed what it went in for they will always say they have but when you get in the car you find that they haven’t fixed all and have to book it in again.

The last time it went in was the 2nd of March, I went to pick up on the 4th only to find out that they had repaired the paint chip that was under the rear light but has left blobs or paint on the rear wing. I left it there and told them I don’t want it back until it is AS NEW.

It was during this time that I found out for them how to fix a couple of problems that the car had form new and I’ll get it back supposedly full fixed on the 3rd of April

ONE MONTH AND ONE DAY after it went in …….

When you contact them, be it over the phone or by email, both the sales team and the service people will tell you things like “I’ll get back to you today” I’ll let you know when its in” BUT nine time out of ten they don’t and getting back to you “today” normally take 4 reminder emails and 5 days…..

It may be just me with these problem but would like to here form anyone else who have uesd or still used lipcomb, as i would love to keep using them but they are not making it easy for me to stay with them.

The other dealer in my area is
Glyn Hopkin Abarth Fiat
288 - 298 High Road, Chadwell Heath
Romford, Essex RM6 6EE

and would like to hear if anyone has had a better time with them as it may be time to change my dealer?

Thanks
Lee

got me baby back.
Wren i get there the service guy (diff bloke from last time) he said the manager wanted to have a word, looking good i thought, but i was 25 mins later than a said i'd get there and he was in a meeting. So they said he would ring me. That was 1.30 it's now 6 and no call. Also when i got every thing in the boot was a jumble and some cds that where rapped up time taped in a bag were open as if someone had opened them and looked to see what they were. Went back in to complan but they said that that would not happen and i was mistaken.  . . . Yeah right.
Its not the fist time i got it back with the boot left like that. If someone don't keep going through me boot there is only one other thing that can be going on. . . . And it is that each time it goes in someone is taking out for test drives and driving it like a nutter

speaking as the sales team involved i cannot speak for our service department.
the car involved had 2 very minor marks on handover. a tiny scuff on black trim, for which we apologised and arranged to sort out, the other, a small chip on the side of the petrol cap, i personally swapped over from another vehicle that day.
our csi scores and the fact that we were given the franchise show we are amongst the best fiat dealers nationwide, and whilst NO ONE is perfect, we are striving to do all we can in the interest of our customers.
hopefully, some of our other customers may like to back me up on this.

Hi Dazza, yes mate you did change the petrol cap at the time, but your recollection of only 2 faults not quite correct. if you remember there where in fact 5 faults that I spotted at delivery (I still have the photos) and yes only one of those was not fixed and I had to return.

Any way the car is fine now.

thanks everyone

I have had a few issues with Lipscomb to be honest.

It did take a while for the car to arrive in the UK, however that wasn't really an issue for me. On the day that I had arranged to pick it up, the finance had some issues and I was waiting in the surrounding area/dealership for over 6 hours. For the hassle I was offered free car mats, however this took over 5 weeks to come in; half the fault of Abarth themselves for not sending stock to Lipscomb in time and of Lispcomb. One of the days of calling them to see where the mats were, I was informed that I had been given a car without the puncture kit in the boot. So I had to drive from Brighton to Maidstone to collect this.

I also noticed that they had given me a car which had one character different on my number plate to what the car had been registered to, therefore I had been driving technically uninsured between collecting the car and having the number plates changed.

After getting everything resolved, I had been in contact with the Dealer Principle and arranged for, originally my first service free of charge, however this was not possible as I had signed up for the monthly service payment agreement. So they agreed to send me a cheque for a third of the three year plan, which took around two weeks to appear in my letterbox. I do appreciate that I received this from them.

Yes they eventually helped me with all of the issues I had after purchasing the car, however they really do need to work on their customer service to post-selling of a car. As whilst I was organising buying the car, they were very helpful and I was happy with what I experienced.

I think its time for Lipscomb to get a good bit of feedback!  :thumb:

I picked my AGP up from them on the 1st of September from Daren. It was quick, easy and hassle free. It took around 40mins from arriving to driving away. (I am however still waiting for my mats to be delivered)

Unfortunately it began to rain as I was driving home; the window wiper blade was missing a component that held the blade to the wiper so the rubber was flapping around doing nothing. I took it back to Lipscomb, explained what the problem was and a man from the parts department replaced the blade in a matter of seconds of me arriving, no questions asked.
I then took the car on holiday with me down to Cornwall and ASR became permanently disabled, as well as the ESP and Hill holder. Every time I turned the engine on I got a series of error messages. I rang Daren on the day I was due back, who put me on to the service department. They arranged a courtesy car that same day for the weekend and fixed the problem first thing Monday morning. (the breaks also squeaked and they sorted them too)
I am not yet 21 which meant they were unable to insure me for free so I had to insure the car myself. After 30mins on the phone to an insurance company that had never heard of a Fiat Grande Punto 3door, the lady at the service desk offered me the hire rate £12 per day including the insurance. The exceptional thing was that she only charged me £12 for the duration of the time I would have needed the car, this gesture was well beyond her call of duty and much appreciated. (she also let me have 1/2 a tank of fuel for free, telling me only refuel it to 1/4 from 3/4, making my £12 back easly)

The issues with the car are not their fault but I am impressed at how they deal with solving the faults immediately. You never feel unwelcome walking in the service dept (unlike ford ). I can recommend this dealer all day long to anyone who asks. The show room is massive and well presented and the test drives were long enough for you to get a good feel for the car, my sister has subsequently ordered a Fiat 500 from Daren, even though there are Fiat dealers close to home. None of them can match Lipscomb.

Just a case of saving for an Esseesse kit now i guess!!!! :getmecoat:

They are good over at lipscomb i got mine from Daren aswell he was more concerned that I could afford to insure the car rather than make a quick sale and get me to sign the paperwork quick, he was happy to show me the car when it came in even though we had to go through loads of locked gates/doors. What I found good aswell is that he asked me about what insurance company I was with so he could advise other young people who were considering buying the car to help them find the cheapest insurance.

The warranty work i had done they were excellent knew exactly what needed doing before even looking at the car just from what I told them.

Another thing I believe shows good customer service is when they recognise your face I was with my mate there couple of weeks ago he was looking at cars I had not been down there for a few months and was surprised both the Abarth salesman recognised me  :thumb:

I did have a problem with Lipscomb Fiat in ashford when they repaired the wrong bit on my last car it was obvious what needed the repair :thumbd: but Lipscomb Abarth in Maidstone have been excellent :thumb:

Just had my car serviced at Lispcomb.

I booked the whole thing via email - BRILLIANT!

They called me a few days before to remind me, and ask if there was anything else they needed me to look at while they had the car.

When i got the car back, it had been cleaned in and out, looking lovely.

They did forget to stamp my book, I mentioned it, the really lovely lady took the book, ran off to get it stamped. When she came back though, she had stamped "2nd Service" and filled in the info for "1st Service". She then went off and got "1st Service" stamped aswell. So i ended up with 2 stamps.... I'll have to go back to them for the 2nd service. Which, after how i've been treated, I'll be doing anyway.

Thanks Lipscomb.

Took my car into Lipscomb today for a replacement headlight, done under warranty with no hassle at all, and to have the springs swapped over for Eibach items. All finished and ready for me when I finished work, excellent.

Had my first service today owned the AGP since 27th March 2009 When I went to take a look at an AGP and get some figures back in febuary 2009 I was thinking because I am young and look younger than what I actually am I would not be taken seriously glad I was wrong  :)
Darren dealt with the sale he was very knowledgable, very friendly and very helpfull and seemed to have a passion for the brand it was probably the best customer service experience I have had  :thumb:
I went down to Lipscomb to book my service few weeks ago just happened to be a Sunday and no one was there to be able to book it. Went down next day the people who dealt with booking the car in were very friendly said they would drop me off in maidstone.
On this day Darren was just driving a car out saw me and asked was there anything wrong with the car (as he saw me there on the sunday) and asked how the car was.
Today took the car in for 0900 they said they would get the car done for 1300 they took me to Maidstone like they said all good was expecting it to be done by 1300 but I did not get a phone call until 1432 to say they were sending someone to pick me up.
The bloke who drove me about said sorry for being late he was a nice, friendly bloke aswell  :)
I had been charged correctly for the parts as some people have had cases where they were charged for 2 cans of oil and only had 1 and a half only problem was I washed my car yesterday and was looking good it was nice of them to wash it for me after it's service and I do appreciate it only problem though was the car was covered in smeary water marks

Ordered and collected my A500 from/through Phil at Lipscomb, really nice bloke, kept me totally upto date all the way through the process and even when I collected and he had 6 collections that day he still had the time to walk me over his A500 so I could hear the Record Monza.

Nothing but good prase for Lipscomb

Took the SS in last week to get a few bits done under warranty, even though I had purchased the car from another dealer they took it in with no hassle and got it back to me the same day..  and they had washed it!

I got a friendly text message the day before to remind me that it was due and all the staff were polite and very friendly :)

I also had the pleasure dealing with Carly (one of their sales people) a few weeks before when I was looking at buying one of their cars, she's wonderful and really knows her stuff (despite being a trainee)

10/10 from me!

Did some investigative work for me without being asked and then suggested he ordered the part in to finally check all ok before making a sale - without wanting a deposit!

Excellent service!

Booked the car in yesterday to get the top mounts looked at and a 6000 mile service done (have an Esseesse).

Got a call at 4 saying the service had been done and that they needed to order parts for warranty work so off I went to pick it up..  Paid a reasonable £95.95 for the Oil/Filter change (£63 of this was parts alone) and left a happy chappy in a very shiny Abarth!

Warranty shopping list includes; two top mounts, two front shocks, four center caps, one new seat cover and a partridge in a pear tree!

Only down side is that I got home last night and realised that my Esseesse badge has been damaged where someone with a sponge has caught the edge..  Have spoken to the wonderful Nikki in service and have been told that they'll "have a look at it" on Tuesday when it goes back in to be done.

Let's hope that my high opinions of this garage aren't shattered by them refusing to replace it!

Well..  I'm afraid my high opinion of this dealer has just been shattered!

Collecting my car later today with all the warranty work completed (all good).

However; they refused to even check the wheel alignment after changing front shocks & top mounts and they won't replace my esseesse badge that they damaged when they cleaned it last.

Not overly impressed with the way that I've been spoken to (after complaining) either....

10/10 for completing warranty work, 2/10 for customer service!

A big thumbs up for Phil in the sales team :thumb:.   I only went in for a test drive after seeing the car at the Festival of Speed at Goodwood ( I actully saw it the previous year but Lipscomb didn't have a APE to test drive).   Without being at all pushy Phil was able to convince me that the car he had in stock was exactly right for me and I am so pleased that I went ahead and bought it.

A big thumbs down for the Parts department :thumbd:.   When I bought the APE I asked about the TomTom Sat Nav and Phil went and checked and they told him that the new Blue&Me TomTom2 Live was compatable with my car and would pare with the Blue&Me in the APE.   I parted with £300 which is a lot of money for a Sat Nav and found out later that there is no way the TomTom will ever pair with an Abarth.  Phil has done what he can to rectify the situation and asked the parts department to speak to me but I have heard nothing.   A very poor show from a company who pride themselves on their service.  :-[   I am still hoping that Phil will sort this out on his return.

I bought my 500Abarth from Lipscomb but they were not the first Abarth dealership I went to, the first was Romford and I was beyond unimpressed with them.  I decided to try again and drove the extra 20 or so miles to get to Aylesford and I was so very glad that I did.  I bought my car from Carly, she was brilliant, very helpful, full of information, kept me informed while I waited for the car to arrive and went out of her way to get me a good deal.  I have no real complaints as the small mark we found on the car was immediately looked into.

I love my car, I enjoyed my experience buying my car from Carly and would not hesitate to go back  :D

Just had our first low mileage service at Lipscomb today.

Dropped the car off at 8.30 in the morning and at 9.00am they dropped us off into Maidstone to do some shopping. Picked us up at 12.00pm and the car was all ready and waiting for us. Daniel and Rachel were very helpful, friendly and polite and overall a very good service from them. I would definitely take the car back there again. :D

I agree that Phil is a top bloke.   He was not at all pushy a year ago when I was invited to Lipcomb for a test drive after trying to get a drive on the track at the Moving Motor Show at Goodwood.

This year I wanted to drive the A500 on the track and contacted Phil who said he had spoken to Abarth to arrange something.   When I spoke to the Abarth staff on the stand they said they had heard nothing from Lipscomb.   I am sure he will be a top bloke again when I am ready to buy a new Abarth.

As for the Service department, I have just had a letter from them reminding me that my "FIAT" Abarth Evo is due for a service, some how it has become an Fiat I wonder if this means they will be charging me Fiat prices for the service.   I think not!   I am certainly going to check out Monza Sport before I travel up to Lipscomb.

As the rear wheel of my A500 has been making an horrendous squealing noise for the past couple of months, I booked my car in with Lipscomb.

Took my A500 in at 08:30 on Wednesday morning. At approx 17:30 I received a phone call to say that they could not hear the squealing. After telling them that the squealing was definitely there, they kept the car for another day. Thursday (approx 17:00) I go down to Lipscomb and they tell me that they did hear the squealing and that the rear disk pad was 2mm thick and needs replacing. I was fuming. They kept my car for two days only to tell me that the rear break pad needs changing, without changing it!!!! Surely the first thing you would check for is the break pad situation (i.e. pads need cleaning etc etc).

So a week where I planned everything around getting my car fixed (stayed with the in laws)......it didn't get sorted. This poor level of service has wasted the week for me, my wife and the in laws (as Lipscomb could not provide a courtesy car for me)

In the end I had to buy the pads of them, so that I could get Kwik Fit to put them on for me (I couldn't afford leaving the car with them for a third day, as I needed to go home in Middlesex)

Also.....a quarter of fuel had been used....but I guess they had to drive around quite allot to figure that the break pads needed replacing

I'm so disgusted with their level of service........They don't deserve to fly the Abarth flag.  :thumbd:

Picked up my APE today, have to say bar the confusion regarding my original order which should have arrived on the 8th December, I have been very pleased with Lipscomb so far, particularly Philip.

Instead of waiting until sometime next year for my original order to be built, an identical car was sourced but with added climate control - at no extra cost.  They also agreed to install an armrest, again at no extra cost, which had been on the original order.  For my trouble Philip threw in a free keyring and toy, plus honouring the free oil, mats and full tank that had originally been pledged.  The car was even wrapped up in a cover in the showroom as though it were an early Christmas present!

The dealership can be a little hard to get through on the phone sometimes but otherwise the service so far has been very good and already got us thinking about the new Panda 4x4 when it arrives in the New Year.  We have a Fiat dealership that is considerably closer to us, but for the good service I will definitely be using Lipscomb.

Picked up my 595 Turismo today, well pleased with it and the service i received from Phil,he was in constant touch either by phone, text or email sending pictures and giving me updates all the way through, sorted out the Reg transfer and the transfer of wheels, exhaust and a few other bits from my A500 on to the new 595, also phoned me to advise me i had a small kerb mark on a couple of my Esseesse wheels which i knew about and arranged for them to be repaired while they had both cars  :thumb:

One negative he wouldn't let me keep the Abarth 595 indoor cover :thumbd: ;D

Just thought I'd post my views on Lipscomb

I have just bought a band new a500 and the purchase was very pleasant and problem free. I got a good deal from Phil Rigby who I would highly recommend he wasn't pushy or anything but totally professional and courteous at all times

He took time to hand the car over and explained everything in all the detail I wanted and answered my questions no problem at all

During the sale he kept me informed either via text, phone or email and sorted the financial side out as well

I appreciate he's in the business of selling but he did he's job brilliantly and got his sale by assisting me instead of trying to push me in any particular direction, I have no hesitation in recommending both Lipscomb and Phil, lets hope any warranty and after sales service are as good, I will of course keep you posted

Had a slight warranty claim, the centre air vent was not working correctly so I called up Lipscomb last week and arranged to call in, as it's an 80mile round trip I asked if they could pre order a vent, which they did I had a phone call and email to tell me that the part was in and that Saturday was confirmed, I've just come back, all done no issues car washed and hoovered limitless coffee great service all round

I bought my car from Phil. As I've stated elsewhere here, he was terrific - one of my best ever motor trade experiences.

I think the guys and girls at Lipscomb deserve a thumbs up from me.

Just completed a purchase with Phil, very relaxed & professional.

One of the best dealer experiences I have had & unfortunately often a rarity these days.

Keep up the good work.

Buying through Phil was a great experience and when ever I'm in He always has time to shake my hand have a quick chat and I can't fault the guy, his lady friend from the Alfa department is very nice too ;) ;)

It's sadly when we move over to the service dept where I have the problem, Chris (I think) has been very helpful but last year there was a new guy that was in charge of the service department, tall fella, anyway he was abit funny and was trying to convince me that some of my issues with the car at the very end of the warranty where due to it being a racing car for the road and to trust him as he used to race cars on track when he was younger...

Its a mildly warm hot hatch with crap suspension based on a little city car designed for women! It's not a out and out race car PMSL He said that on my next service I'd need a brake service and require pads and discs at the very least on the rear and maybe on the fronts... Roll on 12months car went in for its second MoT and fourth service only after talking them out of doing a £700 full service including spark plugs as I only had 12,500miles on the car they decided a low mileage service would be better ;)

I was told to get the car to the garage as early as possible, so reported at 08:00 just as the service dept opened, told them I'd be in the local area as there was no point in going home to Dartford only to be mucked about at 12:00 and told that my car hadn't even gone in and wouldn't till after lunch so we returned to Dartford and only when I chased at 15:45 was told the car was ready although I had been reassured that I would have been contacted when the car was ready!

Oh and that brake service... Nothing mentioned! On top of that when the car was in the year before for the last of the warranty work which included a resealed gearbox as it was leaking and a new clutch slave cylinder (I think) they not only scratched the F**k out of my G-Tech turbo/manifold cover, but broke one of the support pegs on my GTTuning induction kit, I'm sure that they cracked the L bracket on it as well but as its a known weak link on the induction kit I can't be sure and ever since then I've also had a strange vibration from my G-Tech exhaust which makes me think they haven't lined that up right neither Grrrrrrr!

So from next year on I'm gonna use either AmD in Essex or SanSpeed in Kent for all my servicing, won't be going back to Lipscomb unless I can help it which is a real shame

In my search to find some parts, I had no luck with a few dealers  :thumbd: but was put in touch with Lipscomb, Aylesford.
Having made my request, I was impressed that a member of staff called me back straightaway and worked me out a good deal.
I went down to pick them up and was pleasantly surprised by the warm, professional approach they showed me. :thumb:

My only gripe was that they could sign post the Parts dept up a bit better but other than that - very good! :thumb:

I've purchased many cars from Lipscomb and the experience has almost been identical on each occasion. Sales is good courtesy of Phil in the Abarth department, but the overall experience is somewhat tainted by the service department.

Im a very patient person, I understand that sometimes things are out of the dealers hand's and they're solely reliant on the supplier from Italy which can be a bit slow, but i don't mind these things i'm a tolerant person, all i ask is to be kept informed, that's all. When ive asked them to give me a ring back, it very rarely happens, resulting in me always chasing them, which shouldn't happen.

Yes sometimes, they're going to busy and yes sometimes they might genuinely forget, we're all human, but ive been buying cars there for 5 years and family have been for even longer and it always seems to happen. Fix this little problem and you'll have a 10/10 garage, simple.

Kind Regards

I visited Lipscomb to have a look at a red 500 advertised on their used car page, but to be honest it didn't seem worth the asking price. I was reconciling myself to a drive back to Oxford when Philip Rigby suggested to my other half that he could do a deal on a brand new car that she couldn't walk away from (she'd seen the record grey anniversary in the showroom and loved the colour). Quite frankly I would rather look for a gas leak with a burning match than try that, but (as the family finance guru) she sat down with him. Three quarters of an hour later we were driving homewards having bough our new baby on a 50% now, 50% in two years deal!
Philip couldn't have been more helpful, or less pushy. He arranged for the petal wheels to be changed for the diamond cut 10 spokes and changed the chrome wheel centres for the red rimmed ones.  I phoned him up to ask if he could change the mirror caps to red to suit the centres and register it with my personal plate and he just said OK, no problem. From start to finish I can honestly say that we were both impressed with the way we were treated. I won't be using them for service, but that's only because it's too much of a drive from Oxford.  :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Big Thank You To Phil Rigby In Sales and Adam Treacher In Service. Put A500 in at short notice to replace the Oil Cooler. Between them both, they got my Car In and got me back on the Road with the loan of a C500 Very Nice It was too. Was kept updated and the whole thing was kept as a painless as possible.

Big Thank You.

Service department needs to be gutted and started afresh. Apart from Phil on sales who always seems to go out his way to help you, that place is shocking. Still waiting for a phone call that's now overdue by 3 days, aftersales in that place has and always will be a farce.
