Well, just a few thoughts on my Vospers experience now that we have our long awaited and hotly anticipated funk white baby.


Just great

You might think that a round trip of 400 miles a little excessive, but it is WELL WORTH it.  To deal with folks who deliver good honest customer service, know their subject inside out, and dammed pleasant too. 

pre sales I found John to be great - not too pushy.  Arranged a test drive that took place no more than 10 miles from our house - now, I cannot guarantee that he can do that for everyone (small amount of luck in this for us!!), but we managed it!.

kept us posted all through the process, humoured my constant nagging for delivery, and gave us a good, fair price for our part ex.

Handover was excellent too - despite us being late, and despite John clearly suffering with a hugely sore throat (he really should not have been there), he struggled through the pain and whispered the handover, even managing to make the voice activation work.  The other John eventually took over and was no less helpful and patient.

All in all, cannot fault them - worth the travel - for sure.  Whilst it seems a long way, you'd have to go a long way to find better service and I cannot recommend them enough to others considering an Abarth.  We will certainly travel to get ours serviced there.

I just wanted to add my experiences to this section... As someone who's worked in the car trade many moons ago (I didn't reveal that to anyone until the day I picked up my car  8)) I guess I'm very picky about who I will and will not deal with

I have to say that without doubt, Vospers are doing an amazing job.

Yes, they are 330 miles from where I live, but the quality of service I have had from John Hutchinson, John Clapp and the whole team at Vospers has been second to none.

I almost didn't get an Abarth because of the treatment I'd had from another dealer, but John H rode in like a knight on a white charger (or is that an AGP  ;)) and saved the day!

John H communicated with me regularly -- by phone, e-mail and text.  My questions were always answered honestly and directly, there was never any "selling" as such, just an Abarth enthusiast (him) talking to an Abarth wannabe (lil old me!) to get me the car I dreamed of, for a price I could afford, with my trade-in at a price we could both live with  :thumb:

I had never met John H or John C until this Saturday (when I went to pick up my car) -- so the 12 weeks build was all handled remotely.  Finally meeting John & John on Saturday morning was great and the reception was warm and friendly. 

Even other staff in the dealership who were just passing by or who came to talk to John or John said "Hello" and wished me well with my new car!  Whatever they put in the water down there needs to be bottled!  Other dealers could learn a lot from them.

When I got there, all the paperwork was ready, finance, part-ex, new car docs everything -- John C even helped me fill out a V750 form for a change of plates!  He took me through all the bookpack items, and pointed out the relevant differences for certain bits (as I was coming from a Fiat GP) 

When the time came, John C took me to the car -- which had the Abarth 595 cover over it and did the "reveal" -- it's a very nice touch. 

He then took me through everything on the car in great detail -- and answered all my "newbie" questions.  I couldn't fault the handover.  It made me feel confident about the car and the features -- I didn't have to leave the forecourt only to pull up 3 miles down the road to work anything out! 

When I was ready to go, I even got to meet Mr Vosper himself -- something I hadn't been expecting.

All in all, the Vospers "experience" was positive, friendly and above all professional -- it's the final stages where so many dealers get the "small things" wrong -- Vospers (under John H's leadership) have things spot on.

Some dealers give you the "warm and fuzzies" until you've signed the order and then couldn't really give a t*ss... The Vospers experience was not like that at all.  I can't recommend them highly enough.

Well what can I tell you that has not already been said.......... ;D On Saturday 30th May we had the great pleasure to collect one very beautifully prepared Grande Punto Abarth complete with Esseesse kit and I haven't lost the stupid grin from my face yet :thumb:

What made the whole experience so memerable has been the way since last September when we ordered a A500 from Vospers (Yes we did buy the GPA instead and it is the right car for us!) that John has always treated us as some one who mattered, has always found time to answer any questions we had, and most important for me.......when i didn't fit in the A500 John took the time to show me the GPA and find the spec we wanted so we could keep alive the dream of having an Abarth.

The whole buying experience has been stress free and we have had regular calls to keep us up to date on the arrival of parts and their fitment.

On the collection day there was no rush and none of the I've had your money here's the keys no b#gg#r off I've got work to do which I have experienced at other dealers in the past!!! :whistle:

If you want to be listened to as a customer, kept up to date on the progress of your own special car, and to be made to feel really special on delivery day ring John at Vospers and arrange a visit. You will not regret me ;D

A huge thank you to John, Jon and Dan for such excellent service. I know i am probably repeating what others have already said but the handover yesterday was faultless and your enthusiasm for the brand infectious.

Me and the good lady are quite impulsive and even though we travelled almost 300 miles to buy the car (without even a test drive :o) we knew it would be one of our best car purchases (and we have had quite a few in recent years ::))

I am sure i could go on with more gushing words of praise but wouldn't want to make anyone  :puke:  If anyone is thinking of buying an Abarth in the near future I would strongly urge anyone to give the guys at Vospers a call.

PS. And now I have some cleaning to do. White seems to show up the flies' blood and guts quite nicely so not a look I can be seen in public with ;D

My sentiments are pretty much the same as all people above regarding Vospers.

I was down that way on holiday and John H made every effort to make sure he could fit me coming for a test drive amongst all of the other things that I had planned whilst down there.

There was no hard pushy sale like I had when I bought my Swift from my local dealer.

The test drive route was great and encourage to show the accelerator some fun!  :)

Once I got back home it was incredibly easy to buy the car, didn't have to go back down until day of collection.  Car was even slightly ahead of schedule.

The hand over was seamless and through, showed me everything I needed to know.  It is also the little details that count, a brief phone call to make sure you got home ok, in the teaming rain goes a long way with customer relations.

All the staff that I did encounter were friendly even in the normal showroom when I went for a nose around on a Sunday and they pointed me in John's direction when he was back in the office during the week.

I will be paying a visit for the SS kit and my servicing.  It adds a nice little weekend break after having the Abarth serviced I reckon.  ;D

All in all the whole service from start to now was great, called when promised and called when wasn't even expecting it.

A bit :thumb: to John H and the Vospers team for making this the easiest car purchase I have ever had.

I agree with all the positives set out above.

I took delivery of a new 500 ss yesterday well ahead of schedule.

John Clapp has been excellent to deal with from the test  drive to delivery.Everything has been done as promised and on time or ahead of time.Unlike many dealers he didn't lose interest  once the car was ordered.

Despite Vospers being 200 miles from home and about 150 miles further than my nearest dealer the service and attitude made the trip well worth it and contrasted the treatment from the local dealer.

Having bought about 10 cars for myself or my business over the last 2 years dealing with bmw,audi,alfa romeo,vw and others I can say that this has been the best process of the lot.

Thanks to John H of Vospers as well for showing us our car being ss'd - again going the extra mile and taking an interest.

On collection again John C made the day one to remember.I loved the car cover "reveal".

In short the perfect buying process.

I would recommend them without hesitation.Both are a credit to Vospers and show how it can and should be done.

p.s. the car is wonderful.

I am now the proud owner of an Abarth Convertible which I was talked into by my Husband. However after the amazing John Hutchinson had found me the perfect car, I am really pleased with the personal attention John gave me. The car looks superb and all the extra's I have had put on work really well. If anyone was to ask about the car I would strongly reccommend John Hutchings to anyone as his service and attention to detail was the best you could ever imagine. I also have to say the hand over was very impressive as I had Mr V himself show me to my brand new car. All in all the best experience one could possible imagine when purchasing a new car.

Many thanks John for your patience and no high pressure sales!! Despite being talked into the car by my husband it was the best piece of advice he has ever given me in my seven years married but we won't tell him as he is paying for it!!!!!!

Thank you to everyone at Vospers for making my day very special. I certainly won't forget the ever amazing service. Well done Vospers.

Should have posted this earlier but been on holiday and not stopped driving since we got it ( no joke ) decided to change our 500 for wee A500, one day surfing the net I found Vospers had a 500ss in  Bosa Nova white. I gave John a phone and bingo plymouth bound I was . Monday the 4th of october was the handover day so on sunday the 3rd I left a wet and windy scotland to drive to plymouth via maldon essex to pick up my father in law. Then on Monday morning we left to go to plymouth we got there at about 2.30 in the afternoon John was off that day but he said he would pop down when we got there. Matt did the paper work and John duly arrived and took the car away to tax it and put a full tank of super unleaded in it. :thumb:thank you guys .They also put a new set of mats in too, nice touch, it was a pleasure dealing with them. Having bought over forty cars in my time its the most memorable one to date (it the furthest I have driven to get a car )thank you very much for all your help.  Left late Monday to go to Wales to see some friends for a few days then home to scotland all in all it was a round trip of 1683 miles. Our AGP just sits on the drive now and never gets out we use the A,500 all the time, once again a big thank you (John) vospers  :wave:

Hi, just back from a 400 mile drive and not too pleasant ferry crossing (winds had died down but still very choppy). Yesterday morning I took delivery of my new EVO from John, the car is white with red stripes and mirrors, climate control and sunroof.

Firstly and most importantly I want to say a sincere thanks to John, the biggest concern I had in buying from John was the huge distance I would have to travel to get to Vospers as I live in Belfast, thankfully John dramatically lessened the distance by having someone drive the car to East Midlands to meet me at the airport, this shaved almost half of what would have been an 11 hour journey and I can't thank John enough for that, this is what I call going the extra mile, or infact 300 odd miles  ;)

John has been great to deal with, kept in constant contact to advise any updates on the car, no pressure put on to finalise etc. If you are reading this are thinking of buying an Abarth I can only say give John a call, you will be treated superbly and the extra distance is not an obstacle. Once again thanks John, I love the car  :thumb:

I recently was forced to change my car because another dealership had not made it clear about the qualifying factors needed to upgrade my vehicle with the SS tuning kit. I had run out of time and I could not turn the clock back. :thumbd:
I had noticed that John had a very active presence on the site answering peoples' questions however technical or daft. He had even contributed helpful advice to a couple of topics I had posted. :thumb: :thumb:
I decided to contact Vospers to run through my problem. I initially spoke to John Clapp who was polite and helpful. He put me in touch with John Hutchinson who showed concern for my situation and took the time to go through my dilemma step by step. He confirmed that I would be unable to get the upgrade recognised by Abarth in Italy but he offered me various courses of action (far more practical than the suggestion made by the other dealership). Several of his solutions would have saved me a considerable amount of money but I was still dead set on the Esseesse model. He offered me a fantastic part exchange deal which I accepted.
This meant 2 trips down to Plymouth and I have to say it was time very well spent.
I found John and the team at Vospers very helpful, motivated, focused and friendly. John went out of his way to sort everthing out - every phone call, PM or email was dealt with immediately. John picked me up from the station on two occasions. He even came into work on his day off to deal with me on my first visit to Plymouth.

It made a refreshing change to do business with Vospers. They represent the traditional old style British company  with its values based on customer service and  product knowledge. :thumb: :thumb:

Been good to deal with John, from initial search to completion of the deal in Plymouth.

The weather caused the most complicated collection with snow, fog and delays of planes - even ending up in the wrong airport as we could not land :)

The delivery touches were great, the missing bits organised without extra charge and good explanation of the car etc.

All good and a pleasant experience  :thumb:

Had my 18k service done this weekend, very impressed with Vospers new service facilities, huge amount of parking and a big comfortable service area with plenty of distractions for the little uns if you have them. Desk staff where spot on, quick, knowledgeable and polite and able to answer my questions. Spoke to the Abarth tech as during the service they found the inside of my OSF wheel was slightly buckled so swapped it to the back straight away so I could get home as safely as possible as they didn't have a spare petal to hand that morning. Spotted I had the Monza and did the required maintenance, and my added BMC was removed and cleaned for me. The car wasn't valeted but I was warned well in advance that this would be the case as it was a Saturday and this seems to be usual practice at most dealerships so no worries there. In all honesty it was full of junk so they wouldn't have been able to do much.

During our time waiting for the service all the staff we spoke to in the huge complex were very warm and welcoming.

To sum up amazing facilities, nice people, great service and my car feels much, much better :thumb:

First 6k service after SS fitment.  So it was only a small job bit still great level of detail going into it.

You can see the detail when you monza is 'lubricated' and the stamp in the book had a post-it over it so it does not smudge in the book when the engineer closes it onto the other pages!!!  That's what I call attention to detail.

Also had my fan replaced again, nice to be back in a none squeaky cabin.

New showroom and service centre are amazing, another job well done by the Vospers team.  :thumb:

I can't fault vospers.

They have been brilliant through the whole deal, both Jon c and John h have been a pleasure to deal with keeping me informed. There was a problem with my car being built but they sorted this by finding me another car in the uk so I could have the car today, and sorting out a plan B if the car was not hear in time for me.

My car was delivered with the stripes not up to there standards and pointed this out on collected and informed me that they had already ordered replacements for them.

Jon c was happy at hand over to thoroughly show me round the car and all the features and also help me pair my phone with blue&me. 

Like to just say a big thank you again to both jons for making the deal a pleasure.

After some cruising around the forum and several discussions with members and particularly John H I decided to order the A500. The pre- order customer service and advice was excellent and although convincing was not too pushy. He went out of his way to find and secure the exact car i was after to avoid the delays with a new order, saving me a good 10 to 12 weeks. The numbers all added up even taking into account the distance, and John offered me a guaranteed part ex on my motor in the event i didnt sell it.
Because I was taking the finance (a conscious decision to use the resale value of my car for other things!!) I was able to take advantage of the low rates at the moment and even include some "wish" items like the Konis and Monza on the initial purchase with the same rate. It also meant that i had to pick it up rather than have it delivered (although a transporter was offered to drop off and pick up mine i still needed to sign all the documents)
I was surprised (very pleasantly) and delighted at the level of customer service and information that i received, with sometimes daily updates on the status of my car. I even got photographs when it arrived at the dealers.

When the car was nearing the completion date I arranged to visit and pick up ( and at this point i was still selling my own car). John was flexible about invoicing in regards to mine even up to the last day which took some of the stress out of the nightmare of selling my car privately.

At this point i decided that the custom stripes I wanted would be better applied before pickup so called John with a question/ suggestion. He was more than helpful and suggested a local firm that they had used. I discussed the pricing and arranged the work to be done with John who acted as my quality assurance / liaison with them through the process. He even sent me pictures of the work being done as i was travelling down!)
I ended up getting the train down and just let John know the train times and he was waiting for me in the train station car park in a gleaming white 500 esseesse.
My lovely gleaming car was waiting for me with some large Abarth boxes in the rear for the oem items to take home.
A near painless experience ( i ended up buying the scorpion alloy fuel cap - i have no will power  :whistle: ) of signing the documents and inspection / car tour followed and John was extremely helpful and friendly through the whole process. There was even a decent amount of fuel in it for my journey home  ;D
In all the experience has been an enjoyable one and the deal and service i received more than made up for the long journey down.

I will certianly be giving John a call when it comes time to swap for my next Abarth  :thumb:

Last September 2010 I decided to pop into Vospers Plymouth and ask about the Abarth Punto Evo, I had already decided on the build requirements.
Scorpion black, full sun roof, dual climate control, full leather interior, red stripes and red wing mirrors. :thumb:
I meet John Hutchinson for the first time and felt totally at ease, he got me a coffee before we launched into his sales pitch! It came as a surprise that he did not use one; instead he listened and answered my questions with fantastic clarity. John pointed out all the options and explained the way forward should I decide on ordering my APE from Vospers.
John did a search for a car matching my requirements and explained that due to the specifications I wanted it would have to be built in the factory in Italy. John explained that it would be 10 to 12 weeks at least due to the sun roof being fitted etc.
 I went away that day with all the information I needed to go through it with “her in doors”.
After all she will have to sit in it at some time, I might even let her drive it (only if I am sleeping). :whistle:
I talked it through with my lovely partner ( all of 5 minutes and the decision was made, spookily John phoned to say there was a build slot on the production line if I was still interested. The next day I handed over my deposit and the deal was done.

The start date for the build was the 20th of September (again spooky because that’s my birthday) and now my new cars birthday. ;D

I was delighted at the level of customer service and information that i received, with updates on the status of my car.

To cut along story short after weeks of waiting and a few minor problems which John using his contacts at Abarth, eventually after many weeks on the forum my car arrived at Vospers. ;)

True to his word John phoned me and I went along to have a look see, still in its transportation wrappings it looked great, I still had to wait for the PDI checks that John had to sort out but the pick up day came.

I got a lift to Johns showroom and saw a mysterious shape covered over under a canopy, I went into Johns office all smiles and full of excitement. The mandatory coffee was offered and accepted. :thumb:

John the true professional went over all aspects that are legally required signing the documents etc, then after his card machine raped my debit card for the outstanding balance we set off keys in hand.

John did the honours and slowly pulled away the cover and there it was “GUS” my new APE!, my new best mate.
John showed me everything in detail explaining all the in’s and out’s,
A lot of information was given and most of it stuck, we sat in the car and John went through the interior fittings.

I was not sure if there was a fire but the main alarm in the building and everyone piled out, I did not take much notice of the alarm but felt really proud sitting in Gus with all those people stood there, I wanted to shout “It’s all mine!! Ha”.

I shook hands with John and off I went straight onto the A38 and on with the sports switch, o what fun I had. :whistle:

That was back in November 2010!!, so sorry about the delay (it’s the 5 of May 2011 today), but what can I say, sorry, John Hutchinson at Vospers Plymouth is a credit the Mr Vosper and the Abarth dealership.

He is a gentleman who cares, he’s professional, polite and “customer service” should be his middle name, and I trust him without question.
I look forward to a long friendship with John at Vospers, cheers mate.

I never knew how someoneone could have so much fun with a car! :whistle:

Me and my best mate GUS have had six months of fun,fun,fun and then we had a snag, the dreaded "Engine failure light" came on?.

I drove home slowly not wanting to damge Gus and read the owners manual " Take your baby back to John" it read, well actually it said take your car to a Abarth dealer, same thing  really.

Last wednesday I drove into Vospers knowing I would have to wait at least until the 3rd for the service department to get Gus on the diaognostics.

But John told me he would let me have a car to keep me on the road. Now Vospers is hugh in the Ford car market ( along with many other models) and on the way in I kept saying " John anything but a Focus, John did not disappoint!!!! ;D

He let me drive away in a white A500 SS, Monza exhaust with 200 miles on the clock!! What a guy !!! :thumb:

Gus is having the once over in the safe hands of John and my new little mate is proving a real beast!.

I must say to all A500 owners, you bloody lucky rasters ( sorry I know we can not swear on the forum, but I think you can translate).

I do like this car alot and if my debit card was not raped so much I would buy one tomorrow.

Saving hard for a potentail June deposit and september purchase!! Then I will have two!!! :whistle:

I know I can only drive one at a time but still, I could let the missus drive one ( sometimes at least) Ha. ::)

I bought a 58 plate AGP SS in white with no stickers (all White) back in april and when i picked it up the car was looking stunning. However after loving the car with problem free driving for a few days i then heard a strange knocking coming from the front end. Booked the car in with the service department and it went in, the techs found some loose heat shield and a bent exhaust bracket which they said was causing the noise. i got the car back however the noise was still there so i rebooked it in once again, i then recieved a phone call saying they could not hear the noise so i went for a test drive with the service manager who funnily enough heard the noise right away. i told him it was either bump stops or top mounts and it turned out to be the bump stops all replaced and noise gone, peace at last! well for a few days then the brakes started to grind and squeak :( the car was then booked in once again along with some other bits like rusty wheels nuts and split rubber trim. the car then went in for 2 and a half weeks whilst i had a 500 1.2 pop  :thumbd:
when i got the car back the brakes were then squeaking 10 times worse so they had to rebook the car once again and i had to wait a week and a half for a shim kit! the brakes were still squeaking after having a brand new set of front discs and TWO sets of front pads i had suggested it was the rears making the noise as i said it was from the beginning. the rear pads were changed and the squeak gone!
i then got the car back and everything seemed fine for a while until now the door locks are rattling like hell and i have a worrying misfire!

all in all since may the car has been in 13 times and a total time of just over 5 weeks in which i had to chase what was happening all the time as nobody would keep me updated and the attitude towards myself was very negative in my opinion an extened warranty was then given to me as a means of some compensation however the problems seem to keep coming. the car is booked in to have more work done soon.

Just a quick note to thank John501 and Mr Vosper for providing me with my 695. After all the horror stories regarding the supply chain process posted by other Abarthisti, I was expecting the worst but needn't have worried. I didn't have to lift a finger. Everything was taken care of  :thumb:

I'd recommend them to anyone.

Well a massive thank you needs to go out to John at Vospers!

After bumping into John at Brands Hatch over the bank holiday weekend on his day off and harassing him for his telephone number, he has been a great pleasure to deal with!

John has done nothing but go that extra mile for me, to see me in my dream car! (why cant ever dealership do the same!)

Its all about the little touches that make it for me, answering all my phone calls, phoning me straight back, explaining everything in great detail, countless amounts of emails :D

The icing on the cake had to be turning and seeing a pink box on the table..... with not one but 2 cakes in it!!!  :-*

Seriously worth the 300 mile trip to Vospers!!! Vospers/John H comes highly recommended!!!

Thought I should pop up a post up about my experience at Vospers

After experiencing other dealers, and spending my time with them trying to convince all that I did need an oil change @ 9k, then having them not know what oil I needed, plus coming up with some interesting pricing structures and wildly varying additional bits and pieces that needed to be charged for at my 9k when they were convinced by me that, yes, it had to come in.  ::) I thought I'd give Vospers a bash.

John501s input on the forum being the convincer, this had got me in their showroom sometime back when I wanted an AGPSS, the Jo(h)ns, had helped me back then with good info and test drive etc, good car, driven over good routes but I didn't bite due to knowledge of the incoming Evo, ultimately a local dealer opened up which was clearly more convenient so never used Vospers for my purchase.

Bit of a trip for me to Plymouth, I'm under no illusion, an Abarth doesn't need special treatment, but faced with some of the hassles above I decided that even so it does need to be serviced correctly and it sounded like Vospers know what they are upto. Booked the car in and as it turns out, my time aside, it was cheaper to fill the tank and do the 300 mile round trip than it was to go down the road to Bristol  :o I guess the labour rates and pricing the right items for the service helped keep the price down, or is that correct :)

Aside from booking the service, I have to admit initial impressions weren't good, I had called a number of times to Vospers ( in fact most dealer within the same radius) to try and get quotes for the SS kit prior to going down for a service, got passed around a bit and left numbers but never got any call backs, apart from my supplying dealer who were in fact very responsive :o I think the main difference here was with Bristol I was talking to sales and with the rest I was passed through to service, parts, bodyshops all sorts :D

At this point Vospers aftersales felt like your typical ineffective big car dealer :(  ::) Had some comms with John through the forum as it wasn't going to be long before I hit the 12k limit for the esseesse kit so I enquired and was quoted a cracking price for that too,  I decided to kill two birds with one stone and got my service and esseesse healthcheck done at the same time. :thumb:

Once John was dealing with me there was a distinct change in response from the service side, particularly with Simon on the case, the sort of level I expect  8) the cynics out there might connect the extra dough I was spending on the kit with that change but I don't think that was the case, I spent the large part of a day sat in the service centre whilst my kit was fitted listening to a lot of customers (it's very busy in there) and it all seemed pretty good really, must have got some one on their off day.

While esseesse kit was being fitted John gave me a manual 500C to pootle around in, it was nice to get a decent car, a cheeky Abarth, rather than some pap, bugged me at my supplying dealer when they gave me a Venga,  Unfortunately due to boring stuff like deadlines for a chip release at Christmas (who is it thinks that is a good idea??? ) I couldn't play much in that little toy and had to sit in the dealership on my laptops, while Vospers staff got me coffees etc, all in all a very pleasant experience 8)  :thumb:

The guys helped to load up my motor with the old bits, I say helped, they mostly did it, I'm lazy like that :D and off I popped, mostly painless apart from the whole having to pay for it bit  :o

Its not been plain sailing as I picked up an issue with my motor which I noticed on the way home, bit of vibration at uuumm speeds it was unlikely to be tested at :-X that I'm still working through, but I've not had much chance to get it sorted, real life has a knack of getting in the way of your fun sometimes :( still the support I have had from Vospers has been very positive and the car will no doubt be sorted once I get back in to my old routines, first day back in my motor today after driving my family bus for a week and you forget how quick it is and how hard it is not to go silly. :thumb:

Bit long winded, short summary, nice dealership, great staff, friendly generally not just in the Abarth bit where they were taking my dough, a clearly enthusiastic sales guy in John, it makes a change to talk to one who knows what he is selling :) and on the service side Simon is quite enthusiastic and helpful too :thumb:

Well I couldn’t resist it, when I saw the Koni Brembo 695 kit being offered I knew I needed one in my life ☺

My friendly not so local dealer was more that happy to help me order one and what a breeze it was too.

John H was very patience with me as it took me about two weeks of umming and ahhing to decided what colour and if at all I could afford to change it.  When I did decided it was all just done without any fuss.  Once I decided my options the order was done, finance sorted and then the wait began (again).  It wasn’t as long this time; only 8 weeks I think compare to 12 before.

Was kept up to date all the way through and it was at Vospers before I knew it!

I collected on New Years Eve which was not an issue for John and even had the pleasure of having a chat with ‘Mr Vosper’ himself.  There is even photographic proof, as he wanted to see the first kit out of his show room.  Now that does make one feel special.

Am amazing experience once again and I’ll be back down there in 5000 miles for my oil change.

Just wanted to sing my praises about John501 and Vospers.  Living in Norway with the nearest Abarth dealer far away in Germany some stuff has proved to be difficult.  Espescially getting the B&M Map unit working when it turned out there was no map of scandinavia on it...  The local Fiat dealers did not want to even hear what I was talking about...  An idea got in my head that there might be a SD card with a map out there, but dealing with german dealers can be a challenge due to language problems. Finding out stuff online can also be a challenge due to everything being italian.  Aiming blindly I shot of a PM to John and lo and behold his parts manager located a part number for a SD card with the Scandinavian Map on it.  He even ordered it and had it shipped to me in Norway!  Just service above and beyond what can be expected.  Thanks John!

Just thought I'd put up my experience with john501 and Vospers Plymouth after I fell in love with the APE and decided I wanted one.

Just excellent. Everything happened the way I expected it too with a cup of coffee and allot of professionalism. I'd recommend to anyone thinking of buying from Abarth to head down to Plymouth.

Picked up my second A500 (an A500c this time) a few weeks ago from John H at Vospers.

What can I say that hasn't been said before on these pages, the process from ordering through to collection was completely trouble free. John H has got to be the most enthusiastic Sales Manager out there, his enthusiasm for the brand is infectious.

If you want an Abarth John is definitely your man :thumb:

The lengths John goes to to make his customers happy is extraordinary, including sorting out the weather!!!!! it hasn't rained once since I picked up the car so the roof has been open every journey ;D

I'm lovin the Monza with the roof down  ;D  I'll be back down for the Konis soon hopefully :)

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to say a few words about my excellent experience dealing with John Hutchinson at Vospers. 

I'll start at the beginning...I knew what I wanted, an evo esseesse in campovolo grey with white wheels and stripes.  Being based in Essex I also knew that my local dealer was certainly not in Plymouth but after hearing good things about the level of service people have received from John at Vospers I decided that I would go down and meet him and try the car.  A few weeks later the order was placed. He advised on the spec with a great deal of honesty, using the experience he had had of these cars to help me know what was worthwhile adding and what wasn't. Its nice when a salesman doesn't push you into ticking all the boxes.

Throughout the waiting period he answered all my questions quickly and thoroughly and seemed to never tire of my silly questions! I was even emailed a picture of the car when it arrived and was undergoing 'surgery' as he put it. 

Eventually the hand over date came and John collected my girlfriend and I from the train station, a nice touch.

John manages to make you feel valued as a costumer and successfully makes the purchase special.  His enthusiasm for the brand is clear and his attention to detail is very praiseworthy. For instance I noticed a slight mark on the dashboard (the little coin holder thingy), without hesitation he announced that he would send me another by post.

Shame that he didn't have any floor mats but I reckon I can let him off!  All in all I was very pleased with my experience at vospers and I'll be sure to go back down there for any future abarth needs!

P.s. the car is amazing! :thumb:

Brilliant day out - 320 mile round trip.

Went without a hitch, well just the one. The PDQ machine went PDblank, so had to take our shiny new 2tone C without paying :thumb:

A few weeks ago I returned to have the 'Esseesse' kit fitted to my A500C.
Totally extraordinary service, everyone was friendly and helpful.
My loan car was an Abarth Evo Esseesse for the day

Well worth the trip to the west country

Would I recommend?   YES :thumb:

Would I buy again?  Could well do

Went Vospers in Exeter for rear parking sensors and an oil change.

Great reception from the desk, great service and courtesy car ( well it was an under powered Punto), and got my car back nice and clean, inside out.

All in all, I was treated extremely well and looked after how customers should be.

Fiat Vospers in Exeter , (sorry I said the F word) thank you .....

I didn't realise but they can service Abarth but can't do any warranty work.

A big thanks again ....

Well a 450 mile round trip to buy a new car that I could of bought from my local Abarth dealer 20 mins away shows how good a salesman John is  :thumb:

Excellent service and communication  :thumb:

John has an almost limitless knowledge base when it comes to Abarths and it shows that he cares about the cars and his customers  :thumb:

Would love to take it back there to be serviced, and we were offered a very competitive service scheme, but the distance doesn't make it cost effective  :thumbd:
If only we lived closer  ;)

Hi there,

Bought my Abarth 595 Competizione 3 weeks ago from John at Vospers and have to say the service down there was amazing.

From cups of tea from walking in the first time to taking me through every last detail in the handover 8 days later, the process was incredibly smooth, polite and friendly. Only had a 60 odd mile round trip to pick the car up but would probably drive, like a few have, 300 miles just to get the same service again.

Thoroughly recommended and am definitely buying another car from there when the time comes, though hopefully not for a few years at least  :D

This post is about 13 months too late..oops! Having bought our first 500 Abarth from John at Vospers in 2010 we decided 18 months later to replace it so gave John a call and as usual he was brilliant and came up trumps, we replaced it with a white esseesse and added a monza exhaust and white wheels.  So we headed off to Plymouth to collect it, all the way from bonnie Scotland ( why would you buy an Abarth from anyone else apart from Vospers, it is a no brainer for us). John was meant to be off the day we picked the car up but came in especially, now that's service for you.
  Now organising another road trip back to this space....Mrs Cookie dealt with John this time and is really looking forward to meeting him.

Great service as always.

John H is a top bloke and i can't recommend him enough to anyone looking at buying an Abarth.
His knowledge of all things Abarth is 2nd to none and always goes out of his way to help.

I've purchased 2 cars from him now and will definitely be going back to him in the future for another.

This review is long overdue as I have now had three Abarths from John since 2009.

What can I say that hasn't already been said above.

John has a rare combination of enthusiasm and knowledge of the cars he sells and is someone who will be pragmatic in order to get the best outcome for his customers.

He is patient and happy to explain any of the intricacies of any of the models and work to any customer requests. He communicates often and offers special touches above and beyond what you would expect to make your Abarth purchase even more special. e.g. taking photos of the car before arrival to whet your appetite before pickup!

He is the only person I have bought any of my Abarths from, travelling 800 miles in order to experience his great customer service.  I see no reason why this won't continue in future.

In summary, he is a real asset to Abarth here in the UK and I hope that his presence will continue for many years to come.

A little late in providing feedback - sorry John501. The service provide was great, no hard sell, now trying to sell me mods that I didn't want/need, just a nice adult conversation about a car that goes VROOM!

John was excellent and provided me with great advice to make sure I got the car that I wanted.

Highly recommend Vospers Plymouth to anyone looking for an Abarth, they know everything and provided a very high level of customer service.

I am very pleased with the level of service that John and his team have given me, I only went in to browse, but ended up buying the 500 bi-colore. At no time did I feel any pressure to buy, but John was always on hand to help and advise as needed. Then when I collected the car John took his time and went through every detail with me until I was happy.
Great service, and I now am the proud owner of an amazing car. ;D

1st post on the forum!!!

Just arrived home after a 500 mile round trip to visit John

The upshot of the visit - order placed for a Cordolo Red 595c Competizione 180

Having recently visited our local dealer in order to start our search for my wife's new car and my "weekend toy" where in fairness we received a reasonably good level of service,  I subsequently came across this forum and quickly realised that John appeared to be the font of knowledge with all things abarth. Luckily i was able to coincide a work appointment in Devon with a visit to Vospers.

As soon as i arrived John was waiting for me and quickly proceeded to answer all my questions, of which there were many  :-[ One of the main concerns was that nobody could previously tell me when the 595c Competizione 180 order book was due to open and if the colour we wanted was available (the 2015 price list i had been given previously was a mind of USELESS information)

John had taken the time to speak to the head of abarth UK and get the very latest information, he patiently answered my endless questions and gave a honest and knowledgeable opinion to them all. I can recommend to anybody regardless of their location in the UK that it is worthwhile the journey to see John. Good professional customer service is becoming harder to find and he clearly knows his stuff.

Thank you John...

Now the wait starts, delivery is unlikely before September and patience has never been my strong point  :whistle: :D :D

Picked up my second 595 Competizione from Vospers 3 days ago.  Superb service as always from John and the team there. Although there has been some delays on building the car out of Vospers control, I was kept up to date constantly.  Communication therefore is again outstanding.

The car is immaculate and I'm very pleased with the service yet again. I'll be going to Vospers again I have no doubt.
