Changing Timing Belt

Hello All, because I don't know if or when the timing belt has been changed on my car, 2015 595, I am going to change it for peace of mind. I have been looking on the Abarth Workshop website and it looks straght forward
EXCEPT the bit where they tell you to loosen the cam pulley bolt. I have changed timing belts on lots of different cars but none of them needed to have the cam pulley retaining bolts loosened. So, my questions are:-
1 Do I really need to loosen this bolt because I don't understand why?
2 If I really do need to loosen this bolt, can someone please explain why this is necessary?

    Good morning Dave,

    The camshaft pulley is NOT keyed or fixed to a specific point to the camshaft.

    After locking the camshaft and crankshaft, the camshaft pulley is allowed to rotate whilst the belt is fitted and tensioned.

    Then the pulley nut is torqued up.

    Hello, thanks 124Abarthreplica. I've never seen this in an engine before, relying on friction to drive the cam. Yes, I know that engines that have keys or pins don't drive on the key/pin, but I still don't like it. But at least I now know why you have to do it, so thank you for that.

    Can you do a youtube video of the proces so a first timer can see if it is worth having a go at it :-)

    Hello, do you rely on the cam locking tool to hold the cam when you're loosening and tightening the cam pulley bolt?  I would be concerned that I was going to shear the cam locking tool off.

    NO, no, no.

    Hold the cam sprocket by another method.

    [size=78%]favourite is usually old belt round pulley clamped with mole grips and held in the other hand or secured to another solid part of the engine or failing that by a willing helper

    Think the favourite is a long bar with 2 bolts sticking through the holes in the pulley.
