Exhaust
« on: October 31, 2021, 04:37:35 pm »
Looking for a Monza exhaust or one with a back box like Ulter etc.

Have a straight through system at present and it’s too loud.

My 2015 Fiat 500 Abarth didn't have any muffler and it wasn't too loud.  However, I put on a high flow cat and a 2.5" diameter SS exhaust system thinking it would help performance, but not change the exhaust note.  I was VERY wrong.  It was REALLY loud.

The solution was to purchase an off-the-shelf straight-through resonator (I used one 14" long).  I cut out a section of the mid pipe and welded in the resonator which reduced the exhaust note quite a bit.  I can't detect any adverse effect on performance.

You should be able to do the same for a lot less money than buying a special exhaust system.  If you can't weld, you can fit one using clamps if you have a set of wrenches and a hack saw.
