Title: 2013 Model Range
Post by: simer on April 13, 2012, 11:29:35 am
Sourced from a French site, the revised Abarth Range - still no word on the 595 prices:

"The major new product this year 2012 will arrive in June with a brand new Abarth range, which will be presented in preview at the Abarth Day on April 21. Thus, the offer is extended and Abarth 500 is structured along three axes: "Accessibility" to attract young fans (Abarth 500 base), "Grand Touring" for comfort, exclusivity (595/595c Turismo ) and "Sportsmanship" (595/595c Competizione).

Thus the basic Abarth 500 is silent on some equipment available today in series to make it even more accessible and always (between 17000 and 18000 € prices are not yet determined but will be soon). Equipped with the 1.4l 140hp T-Jet in manual transmission, the Xenon will therefore now available as an option, but standard equipment is still full with 16'' JA, radar setbacks, manual air conditioning ... A new shade body is born: Azure blue.

Then come the Abarth 595 Turismo Competizione and the philosophy quite different, although both of the proposed 1.4 T-Jet 160 hp with the robotized gearbox (manual option): the first oriented GT, the second sport and affirmed .

The Punto will also see its range is expanding with SuperSport version of 180hp, aggressive style of marriage and racy and a very attractive price (€ 21,990) - and the version Scorpione (€ 25,000), limited edition of only 10 copies for France, a concentrated expertise Abarth."

Anyone care to translate  :)

Dont worry too much about the translation, the spec for English cars will not necassarily match the spec for other countries in Europe.

Sounds like the base Abarth 500 may be being despecced slightly but has a slight power increase at 140 hp. I'm not sure if it gets a price drop in France but it possibly reads that way.

Light blue seems to be a new colour option and on the 500 it has matching blue stripes on the seats.

The 595 is going to come in two versions - sporty and luxury. It looks like the 595 is a permanent model in its own right and will have 160 hp.

There seems to be a lot of talk about the flappy pedal gearbox for the 595 - I hope manual is still going to be an option.

I'm less interested in the Punto

All of this has been talked about in the other thread that I cant be bothered to go and find.
There is no new info in there and the 595 will be a stand alone model and will have the option of both manual and flappy paddle box.
We know the base 500 is losing some spec, the extent we are not yet 100% about and a price re-alignment is on the cards.
The only thing we are waiting for is confirmation of price.

Does this essentially mean that the A500 SS is no more?

If so that is a shame!

As far as I know there will still be Esseesse kits, so you can retro fit this to NP 500s.

The current kits will still be available for NP 500, they will not change.
There will also be kits available for 595 but the contents of them is still TBC.

Whilst we were all aware of the 595 I'm not sure that we all understood that it was a full production model rather than a limited edition.  In effect it is taking over, to an extent, from the original 500 SS.

Will this mean that it will be possible to have a 160 hp car which will have a less onerous servicing schedule (the same as a regular 500 Abarth) or will it be in line with the original SS models?

Also with the increased power (140 hp) of the revised regular 500, does this indicate a new multiair engine or a simple boost to the original engine?
Title: Re: 2013 Model Range
Post by: olopboy on April 16, 2012, 10:48:03 am
not a new engine, no idea about the servicing, lick your finger and stick it in the air for a good guess
Title: Re: 2013 Model Range
Post by: John501 on April 16, 2012, 11:24:49 am
Definately not multiair.
The servicing schedule will remain the same and the esse esse kit will still be available for the NP A500 which will continue to be sold with some spec and price re-alignment.

The servicing schedule will remain the same

Sorry I may have missed something, but for the 595 is that the same servicing schedule as a 500 or a 500 with SS kit?
Title: Re: 2013 Model Range
Post by: corsa on April 16, 2012, 11:34:15 am
595 will be SS specification, so it will be maintained like a SS, only logical conclusion I would say :D ;D
Title: Re: 2013 Model Range
Post by: simer on April 16, 2012, 11:49:22 am
I was hoping they might take this opportunity to have a servicing/oil changing schedule in line with the 21st century rather than something in line with the 20th century.

Maybe its all a part of the retro appeal

Sell 500, buy German and have the car set for variable servicing, all service timing problems solved

Trouble is the two Volkswagens I have owned have also been the most unreliable cars I have owned

The three latest Fiats (incl 1 Abarth) have been the most reliable

You can't win  ;)

Baby Blue - swoon !!!!!!!

But I cannot understand why oh why the Multi-Air is not being offered (as well as 6 speed box).   Frankly it is an awesome bit of kit & a definite UPS and real point of difference .......we nearly went for a MA in the Giulietta , it had more character that the TBi TBH (But I wanted the QV more)

I'm surprised Australia isn't getting US spec as most Aussies i know say the country is more aligned to the US than Europe.  Either way I'd love someone who represents the brand to justify the difference between Europe/US.

Maybe it's because a multiair A500 would threaten APE sales.  Is the APE available in Australia?  I don't think it's available in the US.  The dealers seem reluctant to say anything and all I've had from Abarth UK is:-

".. we can confirm the New Abarth 500 and 595 models will arrive later in 2012, with a launch anticipated for the second quarter of the year (by the summer period)..."

Will the 595's be offered in all colours or only the Turismo and Competizione colours in the press photos?

There will be no multiair in 595.
Colours are to be confirmed but it is believed to be available in most colours including the bi-colours.
Details will be confirmed when Abarth U.K. confirm the exact specs to the dealer body.

Ummmmm we drive on the proper side of the road

No we do not get the APE - but there maybe a chance with the recent change in distribution ........ however I would not expect so, the A5oo is just so fringe here

oh no, really no multi air? so if I wanted a 500c next year, its going to be the same spec basically with possibly the added bonus of a new colour?

John, The US version 1.4-liter FIRE Turbo with Multiair 170 horsepower, won't they use that for Europe?

Just to avoid confusion, it's 160bhp in the US-spec 500.

At least we can thank John for letting us know what little he knows, I visited a few dealers last week and they know nothing (or at least that's what they say) and don't even seem interested in selling a car or taking an order.

Why the hell Abarth didn't give a franchise to less pretentious companies like Mangoletsi is beyond me.  I hate it when salesmen judge you by your appearance.

Rant over.

I think the trouble as far as the 595 is concerned is the dealers don't know enough yet to take orders, I had a nightmare trying to sort mine out because the finance system hadn't been updated with January's figures (this was in mid jan), be patient with them.

I too had the initial lack of interest and went to another dealer I couldn't be more happy with, I'd suggest ringing up your local dealer first (manchester?) and booking a test drive rather than just walking in.
