A mid month statoholic fix

How is Abarth doing in other markets?

Well i can tell you very well. Italy is numero uno in terms of registrations which is to be expected as the passionate nation has (like in our market) a lot of 40 - 50 year olds who grew up with the 500 and the Abarth was unobtainable for them but it is available now. This has shown in the reduction of GPA registrations this year (although still a very high number the YTD to end Sept is over 1,000). Abarth provides the Italian market with an Italian company Q car alternative to the German company brands Q versions that are so strong.

Austria the home of Mr Abarth has with the A500 YTD end Sept matched the number of GPA's registered in the UK and Austria is not a big country (pop 8.3 M) so some passion showing there as well.

In fact lets stat it

Country              Population                500 reg YTD Sep 09            Head pop per A500

Austria               8,300,000                 193 (well 1 less than GPA UK)  43,005
UK                    61,100,000                 779                                    78,433

So if you used the A500 per head of Austria that would be 1,421 registered in UK!!!

Well statoholics if Italy is numero uno who do you think is #2??

The first working day is today! All the number crunching happens today as Saturday was the last working day so although most are known things are not yet finalised.

I could bore you with Euro data but i'm sure no one is interested as the response to my mid month stats was none existant appart from needsmust.

    Delaney:

As a non-UK resident the European stats would be very interesting. The German market statistics would be especially interesting but the other European statistics would be of interest too.

In relation to Austria there are 3 Abarth dealers in there so 193 A500s makes 64.3 A500s per dealer from Jan to Sep 09. For each dealer that means 7.1 A500s per month ie. approx. one car every three working days. I bought mine from Graz in Austria in May and the dealer in Graz seemed to be selling quite many cars abroad which I assume are not included in the Austrian stats.

How many dealers are there currently in the UK?

I can tell you some unofficial statistics too:

    - No officially imported Abarth cars have been registered in any of the Nordic countries as far as I know since Abarth is not officially imported to Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark or Iceland. Some grey imports have probably been registered in some of these countries and in Finland I know two other grey import A500s besides mine. I'm not aware of any AGPs registered in here.

    Portti

I can provide you with this information for Finland as at End Sept

    Model                   YTD 2008            YTD 2009
    Fiat 500                   223                     104
    Ford KA                     0                       402

Very interesting i'm sure that your Abarth will have been put in with the Fiat 500 stats although it is interesting to note the big fall in 500 sales from last year. Am i right in assuming that Finland likes Ford because the Ford KA which is on the 500 floorpan built by Fiat in the same plant gets such a high level of sales it would appear that sales have been taken away from Fiat! In fact the Toyota Aygo seems to have suffered as well from the Ford KA its YTD 2008 569 YTD 2009 249. The A sector in Finland is very small total sector YTD 2008 1,322  YTD 2009 1,355

As your car was on what looked like Austrian transfer plates when you brought it, it would not have been included in the Austrian registrations.

I trust this is of some interest to you.

    Delaney:

Yes you are correct in assuming that Ford is popular in here. I think that it is number 3 or 4 brand in popularity in Finland.

However the situation with Fiat Group has not been very good in recent years and the local (unpopular) Fiat/Alfa/Lancia distributor has been on a verge of bankrupty during the last few months. I think it was September when it was announced that Fiat Group has terminated their distribution agreement with that company. Last month a new distributor was announced and they have started to build up their operations. Due to this I think that there have been only very limited number of Fiat Group car registrations in Finland during the last few months.

By the way the new Fiat Group cars distributor is the Finnish distributor for Chrysler Corp. cars. Perhaps we see similar moves in other markets too in the future?

    Red is the new Black!!!

It would appear that the forum 'Girls only red section' could be responsible for the 24% of YTD Red A500's being registered in one month being October. The number of members that have taken delivery/registration in Oct seems to have been quite high forum members taking Red have been JVN, Capriwidow & Paula although one of those might be the one Red car showing for November.

In fact October also saw no Black AGP's registered is there a supply problem on black. In fact it was Red again that was numero uno with AGP registrations.

    Come del gioco di colore

It has created more interest than the stato regulars Ad Lloyd needsmust Sawbomartin Scuderia sitar wampa etc etc.
If you are very good with stats you might be able enter the above!

    So for Oct 2009

                Oct               YTD
    A500     142                921
    AGP        15                209

    Tot Ab  157               1130

Quite amazing only 8 less A500's than last months new reg month but a lot of people had been waiting a long time for their cars.

So in respect of Come del gioco di colore i will let you know that in Oct 09 there were 18 Red A500's registered so do the maths and you should be able to work out how many have been registered YTD with an earlier comment!!!!

needsmust you think it is Germany at No 2 ! well i spent a number of hours dealing on a matter with Germany and will comment on this later in the week 'you vil be very interested'

Nothing wrong with hair straightners ;D

Even with 142 registrations I still feel exclusive haha.
Research, Nuneaton seemed quite suprised at how many cars had turned up so I guess that there's more registrations than expected this month... ???

Cheers for the stats Delaney :thumb:
