Back box exhaust rattle . Help
« on: February 11, 2019, 06:00:47 pm »
Hi, do not know if someone out there can help. But when I put my car in reverse it’s seems to rattle/waddle and send a a vibration noice through the car! It’s definitely the exhaust/ back box, does anyone know what this is and how it can be fixed? Don’t want to take to dealership and pay extortionate price. Any help would be great! Any help would be much appreciate

Most likely combination of either loose heatshield/ tired hanging rubbers or if still original back box then separation of outer skin due to corrosion which might touch rear diffuser and rattle. Pretty sure decent tyre/ exhaust co would trace it for you.

Had similar with mine and outer skin of exhaust rusted hence the occasional rattle - tended to be much of the time however and over bumps/potholes etc rather than just in reverse - replaced exhaust seems quieter but have a box of plumbing tools and other crud in the boot at present so noisy much of the time ;D
