So last week I start my a500 esseesse up and notice a warning light appear......telling me my number plate light needs to be checked..

Decided the easiest solution is to buy new bulbs and of course, it's never that easy!
 
What I didn't know was that abarths have a common fault where the wires that are in a concertina rubber in the boot have a tendency to break causing loss of electrics to the back of the car.

Sorry but this to me seems ridiculous! I was so annoyed I didn't know about it and thought it was going to cost a fortune. Thankfully I know a mechanic and he was able to add some wire and re-soulder the wires back together without breaking my bank (I called around local mechanics and all wanted a £60/£70 an hour minimum...... ). I then checked all the other wires in this little group and nearly all were at breaking point!

Complete design flaw! Something so simple yet causes a lot of problems!
