Title: :D, Bought One
Post by: A_Person on December 07, 2019, 08:14:38 pm
Well household is now a proud owner for a legend blue 2014 Abarth 500, very pleased it so far :)

The only problem is that dealer or previous owner, pumped in self tappers for the rear registration, straight into the boot metal work WTF?

just noticed as we changed to a private reg.

So I buy rust inhibitor and fill the holes ?? and then tape the registration on.  Anyone had a similar issue

Our first 2 were Legends Blue, they look fantastic.

We want Pictures!

I thought there were clips to screw the plate to, one for each corner of the plate.

I would treat the self tap holes with a rust inhibitor and paint over. You get lots of moisture on the hatch lid in bad weather. I like the smooth look of the number plates being stuck on with sticky pads front and back.

Yeah will get pictures  up soon

Yea there are brackets but they ignore them and just self tapered.

picked some kurust and touch up kit, I also got some silicon sealer as well. so Thanks

yeah noticed the boot today where the faux chrome boot handle meets the bodywork, there is a tiny bit of rust where they meet.

so annoying, love the car tho, but that what happens when you cant afford new I suppose. ha-ha

I made sure the paint was cleaned and de greased/waxed and used double the normal number of adhesive pads, does anyone know why the official 4 fixings have such an odd layout.

Could it be to cater for different number plate styles/shapes in the regions the car's sold.

To expand on my previous comment, if you look on the front bumper of a series 4 there are two black sections at the top of the grill that come down and stick out further than the rest that have a little raised bump on them.  They line up with two more on the actual painted section.  I can't remember exact size they mark out but I think its narrower and taller than a UK plate.

There are several videos of a yellow Japanese Comp (https://youtu.be/RpG28q-aBWE?t=344 (https://youtu.be/RpG28q-aBWE?t=344)) that show how their number plates end up looking :o
