Differences between base 595 and Competizione?
« on: February 16, 2019, 12:54:26 am »
What mechanical differences are there between the base 595 model and the Competizione?
Is it just an Ecu tweak or does the Comp have a different turbo/intercooler etc?

The deals on year old non Comp 595’s are great, I would like to know how easy it is to get to Comp levels of power.

The power bit will involve a remap or tuning box. The rest of it will be very expensive if you decide you want: Brembo front brakes, Sabelt seats, Monza exhaust, Koni's at the front etc.

Base 595 has an IHI turbo.

Competizione has a Garrett turbo, uprated shocks & dampers, uprated brakes, bigger wheels (to fit over the brakes), uprated exhaust, uprated air filter, different map.

Actually in the front both model comes with Koni FSD but on the rear only the Comp has Koni FSD. Also, Comp comes with different springs (lower than the standard 595). 17'' wheels instead of 16''. Note that the brembo brakes can also be fitted on the 16'' wheels! Last but not least, sabelt seats.

Basically, the only mechanical difference is the turbo.
Fitting the Garrett turbo and a remap will get you to the comp range. Standard 595 suspension can overcome the Comp setup. Same goes for the OE brakes but i would definitely suggest installing the brembo kit. The uprated bmc air panel filter costs around 70€. Rear suspension and springs can be found for less than 200€. Monza exhaust can be found at 240€-280€. Prices refer to used but good/great condition. Regarding remap, you can "install" the stock map from the Comp model.

Sabelt seats are no longer a given on the comp - you can now spec a comp with standard seats.
And you should - the sabelts are horrifically uncomfortable.
