Esseesse Kit Warranty Period
« on: March 20, 2009, 10:42:35 am »
Is the below true  ???

My Abarth dealer has just told me that by fitting the Esseesse kit to your vehicle will reduce the maufacturers warranty period from 3 years to 2 years. Surely this cant be correct can it ?

I thought the whole purposes of sticking with the 'approved' kit rather then after market upgrades was to maintain the warranty.

The SS kits has a two year warranty on their parts. It doesn't/shouldn't effect the main car warranty.

This is why you have to have it within 12 months of purchase to ensure the SS kit isn't in warranty and the car is out.

Edit, yes sorry I should say like richbrown this is the impression I've always been given from my dealer, info on here and the general blurb on the Abarth site. Please do not take my words as the absolute gospel truth. But I do think I'm right.  ;D

Yep, this is also my perception of the Abarth/Esseesse warranty.

So to get this straight then. The 2 year warranty should apply only to the Esseesse Kit items themselves  ???.

All other non Esseesse items should still be caoveredby the 3year warranty then  ???.

It almost makes you want to wait until near the end of the first years warranty to have the upgrade fitted.

I would imagine if something on the SS kit went pop in the normal car warranty period Abarth would sort it out. They do seem pretty keen on this novel idea of customer satisfaction  ;)

Again please don't take this as any hard certainty, but hopefully this theorycraft won't need to be tested out.

The general impression is usually the right one  :thumb:
The car itself (either G.P. or 500) is covered by a 3 year, 60000 miles warranty (2 years Abarth, 1 year dealer).
The Esse Esse Kit does indeed have a 2 year warranty which avoids the potential problem of having the kit warranty running on after the car warranty has expired.

Thanks guys for helping to clear that up  :thumb:

On a slightly different tangent but still associated with warranty - are Abarth cars covered by a Fiat or Abarth only warranty?

My rear light has gone already although I have had the car for less than 2 weeks. I have spoken to my Abarth dealer who told me my nearest Fiat dealer should be able to fix the problem under warranty. I have contacted the dealer who will indeed look at the problem but stated that the warranty for Abarth cars is seperate and should really be dealt with by an Abarth approved dealer. The thing that worries me and will no doubt affect alot of fellow forum members is that our Abarth Dealers are often a condiderable way away from where we live.

Can anyone shed any little on this topics ?

I remember reading when some people on here bought their cars that they were given a 5 year warranty instead of a 3!

Apparently the documents said so?  ???

Yes, I was one of them. Apparently a reward from Fiat for paying full whack for my GPA. Not that there was any choice.

what do you mean by rear light, a bulb out?

if so i dont think bulbs are covered by any warranty.

Any warranty jobs should be done by your Abarth dealer as a Fiat dealer will not be able to claim the expenses back from Abarth.
We have had this recently with an alarm system but because it is a Fiat alarm system fitted by a Fiat/Abarth dealer then the Fiat dealer could look at the problem  :thumb:
As Chunkey says though, if its just a bulb gone then it probably wouldn't be covered under the warranty anyway. Just change the bulb but if it goes again then consult your dealer  :thumb:
