Title: Extending warranty?
Post by: pvr on January 18, 2020, 01:08:47 pm
Soon, the Abarth 595 will be 3 years old and I had the offer to extend the warranty for £290.

The car has 3000 miles on it and has never been back for warranty work, just standard annual servicing.

Worth to extend it or run the risk ...

I think it depends how long you want to keep it for.

I had 4 Abarth 500s (All std) and all of them had no issues at all.

The design of the 500 & the T-Jet engine have been around for a long time with nothing being highlighted except wear and tear that you would expect.

It also depends what the warranty covers. The T-Jet doesn't have Multi-Air, so its simple & I can't think of anything that may cause a problem, except maybe the shocks, if its a Tourismo or Comp and I'd bet the warranty doesn't cover them!

If it was me, I'd risk it, put the money to one side, use a FIAT/Abarth/Alfa specialist to look after it.

Agree with that one, and with the mileage etc it hopefully works out.

The previous one we had was from 2010, and it has many items that needed replacing (the shocks 3 times within a total of 5k miles) and the car only had 10k miles on it after 7 years.

The Jeep on the other hand has so many electrical gremlins that I will extend that warranty when it comes up. Always a surprise if you can drive away with the electronic handbrake as sometimes it won't release, the dashboard is a general display of "what does that bulb means" with the start / stop never having worked either.
