I'll put it here as I couldnt find the original/ multiple threads running on the subject... the MX5/ Alfa JV is now confirmed badged as Fiat/Abarth and not Alfa.

I still think that's a little tenuous, just because it's called "Specialty"  doesn't actually mean it's the MX5. We've being selling "Specialty" cars for ages......

Just posting what the article (and many others on Car, Evo etc) are suggesting John.

As an "outsider" to Fiat, the car industry and just the mere customer of a Fiat brand,  that is all the info we as the average punter (and "the majority") are party to...tenuous or not. ::)

Greatful if you can share any of your informed wisdom and knowledge within the bounds of your disclosure agreement...

As I have just said to someone else, I'm not dismissing the fact that it could be the 2 seater that we have been promised since 2008 but the cynical side of me says don't hold your breath.
The press unfortunately have all looked the information that has had very little detail exposed and all jumped to the same conclusion. I've been around long enough to remember when What Car launched their "Exclusive scoop" pictures of the coupe back in 2009. Those turned out to be photoshops done by a student in America but they were good enough for the rest of press to take it as gospel.

Lets just say I reserve judgment on the information until I can see the car in the flesh and actually touch it  ;)
