Hi there, I've been saving to buy an Abarth 500 for a long time, and as my job doesnt pay much, I'll only be able to buy a very high mileage example. I was just wondering if I could ask for advice on things I should look out for when looking at used Abarth 500's ?  I'm relatively able when it comes to mechanics, and have occaisional access to a lift for more serious jobs... any advice would be much appreciated thanks!

Make sure it has a service history and has been filled with the correct grade oil - very important 

As said above, service history is important, a car over 3 years old is OK with dealer service for the time it was under warranty and a independent garage after that, ideally a specialist or a well known reputable garage.

The drive-train is very strong, its been around FCA for ages and is reliable.

I would be looking at the front strut mountings and the exhaust.

Personally, I'd avoid one that's been modified, unless its a proper dealer certified esseesse

There are so called Essesses around, with the badges bought off ebay and similar Team Dynamics wheels fitted.

The good news is that Abarths are well loved cars and are generally very well cared for.

The best bit is that they're great fun to drive!
