Title: Status Codes
Post by: Scrogg on January 11, 2009, 09:29:32 pm
This has proved a popular list on other forums, so I thought I'd post it here as well.

When ordering a new car, your dealer may quote status codes (we all do it, even though we know our customers have no clue what we are on about!) so here they are:

10: Confirmed Order - Heavy Variability: At this point you can change anything.

13: Confirmed Order - Light Variability: At this point you can still change your colour/interior/options but cannot change your engine/gearbox or add/remove air conditioning.

16: Confirmed Order - Fixed for Production: Too late to change it now boys and girls!

20: Assigned: Your shiny new car is built and waiting to start its journey to the UK.

30: In Transit: Waiting to be loaded onto a ship.

35: In Transit: On the ship.

40: Depot Unprepared: Arrived at Portbury, waiting to be checked over for damage/missing bits.

45: Depot Prepared: Your car has been checked and all is well!

50: Delivery Instructions: Transport company receive instruction to deliver car to dealership.

55: Goods Out: On a transporter and on its way...

60: At Dealer: Pretty self-explanatory this one! :P

In layman's terms - the higher the number, the closer it is!

What would happen if at status 45 the car has been checked but isn't okay and has been damaged in transit for example?

There is a re-work centre at Portbury docks and the car would be repaired before it left.
Is that whats happened to yours Joe?

:o Don't scare me with things like that Joe!

I have a mantra... "Everything will be perfect... everything will be perfect..." repeat until all the bad things go away

I don't want to think of what could happen, cos when I do, I have visions of mine falling off the ship and bobbing in the sea lanes between all those big ships  :o  I wonder what the status code for "lost at sea is"?  ::)

Well...

I know that mine isn't lost at sea or in transit at all! John sent me some pics today of MY A500 (including one of the interior showing the infamous Ali Gear knob :tumbleweed:). It has arrived at Vospers and I can pick it up any time from 28th onwards (assuming PDI and EsseEsse installation goes well).

Thanks John. :thumb:

Not wishing to worry anyone currently waiting for their car but back in Jan 1997 I ordered a new Impreza for 1st August 1997, they were just becoming really popular and there was quite a waiting list.
About 6 weeks before delivery I had a call from the dealership to say the cargo ship had sunk and my car was now resting peacefully in salt water  :'(
As you can imagine I was gutted, all that waiting then a big let down.  To be honest the dealership was superb and managed to fast track another car for me and I only had to wait another 5 weeks on top of original delivery date before my car was ready.

I still think of all those cars 'lost at sea'.  I was told about 100 Impreza's died that day along with many Skylines and Supras and the like.  Bet they're a bit rusty by now! Maybe a little fish made it's home in my bonnet scoop  ::) ahhhhhhh

Only 2 Weeks! Was it a launch edition? How'd you manage only two weeks?
I'm gagging for mine & its only been two weeks, been quoted a couple of months. Not sure how I'm gonna cope!  :hysteria:

As a rough guide how long does it take for the status to move from 10 - 16? is there an average period?
Title: Re: Status Codes

usually about 2 weeks

It's as little as that! Cheers John!
Was hoping to add something to my order which would have been on the 3rd week, guess I've missed the boat on that one then.

Not definately. Ask the question as things can move slower at times.

Ta John, have done, looks like I have missed that opportunity, either that or my dealer didn't want to, but I think that thoughts a little cynical. :-\ :)
Title: Re: Status Codes

There is no reason they wouldn't want to change your order, its only a mouse click so perhaps you are being a bit cynical :thumb:

Title: Re: Status Codes
Post by: John501 on October 09, 2009, 12:47:47 pm
If your car was at status 16 (fixed) then your dealer may well have rung the Logistics department to see if they could still change the order. Occasionally Logistics will be able to change things after we have lost the ability to do so.
Title: Re: Status Codes
Post by: Johnny_C-ash on October 09, 2009, 08:03:39 pm
I guess that's the one then. And I think I defo missed the chance to change anything in that case.

Does anyone know how often the status codes get updated on the system??
Title: Re: Status Codes
Post by: Delaney on December 18, 2009, 01:55:48 pm
It is a real time system but it is relient upon the data being put in i.e. when an event happens which is feed in from a varriety of points along the process. Like any system rubbish in rubbish out if that data is not correct generally it is fairly good. John 501 is the expert here he is an end user dealer using the information that it gives him.

A query about the codes.
Not Abarth but FIAT 500 Twinair, still made in the same Polish factory Tychy though.
My wife ordered the car on Jan 24th.
By Feb 6th it was at status 16.
I now find it is still status 16 (as of 8th Mar) with build week 10.
Would this have anything to do with the recent unrest?

http://libcom.org/news/sabotage-fiat-tychy-11022011

Any idea of how long it takes from Status 16 to 60?

Rumour has it that they are having problems with the twin air engine and production is delayed until they fix it.
Nothing official but you are not the only one in this situation.

After doing a bit of digging it appears that is was just lack of parts that delayed production.
Some have been built whilst others are still pending.

I assume that the code status information is only available to the dealer

When did you place your order?

Did you lose your deposit?  The dealer said that he has 4 APE's on order at the moment and one client has already changed and taken the APE that they already had in stock.  He did find me another APE waiting down at Portbury that is similar to the spec I wanted but said I would need to pay extra for the armrest, which I didn't think was very good.

Supposed to be receiving a call sometime this week to find out what is going on.

I didn't lose my deposit as I arranged a deal on another APE which was in stock, but a lower spec which I will be collecting next Saturday. The most annoying thing is the lack of information coming from Italy as to what the delay is and when production will start again. If the dealer hadn't had a car in stock that I was happy to take in it's place I would have walked away entirely. I fear that some prospective owners would be put off by the current situation.

Well I'm pretty stuffed because I've already part-exed my car, not overly happy with the dealer tbh they're making a meal out of a simple fix.  I figured when I ordered the car (after having read the reports about Melfi) that two months was a bit too soon to wait but the car would be 1-2 weeks late.  Sounds like it's going to be at least two months late now.

Why are you upset with your dealer? They don't build the cars......

1) because he has not once made the effort to ring when he said he would

2) he managed to source a stock APE for me (with climate control, which i don't want) but minus the armrest (which I had on my order) but insists I should pay £300 for an armrest to be installed at the dealership - if I choose to swap my order.

He already took my old car off me, which was about £1500 less than I could have got if I had sold it privately.

Title: Re: Status Codes
Post by: mkabarth on December 04, 2012, 08:30:33 am
I will do in time, in the 'Dealer Feedback' section.  I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now as I do have other means of transport and the actual issue of the car being late is not of particular consequence - but I would have liked the dealer to have been more pro-active.

I have just been mugged off by a Mini dealership with another car and my anger with them has probably caused a bit of unintended ill-feeling towards the Abarth dealer.

Usually happens to protect the part exchange value.

Interesting....

I my dealer agreed the price on my 500 in November (which was a little over what I expected) and agreed it would stand 'till the new car was ready (likely early January).

I did consider handing mine in early, just because the MOT was due today. It passed anyway though, so £40 is a small price to pay to keep mobile....

When I had my grande punto sporting from new, I agreed with the dealer that they would put my current car though its mot and if my cupra didn't pass its mot, they would provide me a car until mine arrived.
As promised, I had a little panda for a few weeks!

As much as I've blasted said garage in the past. Sales have always been excellent and as of recently I only have good words to say about after-sales too!
