Ish, G-Tech use a box similar to the TMC one and I dare say some other companies will use the same or similar unit. However these are quite complicated electronics packages so they can't just be cloned, I would suspect looking at the few wires coming off it it is a resistor box. Daron will be able to fill you in on exactly how complex and good those are  ;D

Chris its a very complex system as you'd expect for £25  What you have in essence is a few 2p Maplin resistors inside a plastic box with some wires, but in this case they have re-invented the wheel, these resistors actually reduce your emissions whilst adding more fuel and even miraculously can make your automatic gearbox change gear more smoothly  :banghead: Give you 40lb/ft torque regardless of what your car is, they have also built in technology increase your MPG and all for only £25, I may as well just pack up and look at some other business ;)

What in actual fact most of these cheap resistor boxes do is connect to a fuel temp sensor or similar to tell the ECU the engine is stone cold, it therefore keeps the cold start injector running, a bit like keeping the choke on, the outcome is your car won't idle properly, is drastically over-fuelling and stands a strong chance of destroying the engine. As the saying goes folks, if something looks too good to be true it probably is. There is no such thing as a fit all chip, all of our kits a made specifally for a certain engine type with exact plugs to suit that engine and specific mapping to that engine, we use computer processors with multi channel technology to control up to 5 sensor signals independently and make live alterations depending on the engine speed.

You get what you pay for, that unit at £25 sounds expensive to me, there are loads of sites selling similar from 99p or you could go to Maplins and make your own for even less.

My mate asked me about a cheap chip like this for his fabia vrs last year he saw on ebay naturally I gave him the response most of you would give "well I wouldn't have that on my car".

Anyway he did buy it I helped him fit it we went for a drive and we were really struggling to notice a difference I think he was thinking was it worth it.

A week later he told me he took the box off because he had constant doubts in his mind over it and what I had said.

If any of you bought that tuning box I bet if you fit it you will always have doubts in your mind over it and feel you wasted £25. I think that box is £25 wasted but the TMC box would be money well spent.

I haven't got a TMC box yet but would be likely to get one once all the other performance parts are fitted which I plan to get as it looks like they have done lots of research and hard work into each individual model of car they provide boxes for.

Tbh, the service Daron offers is well worth the money... Warranty on the box, personal service here etc.

Also, as already proven, he is constantly developing the box/software and offers free updates when he writes a new (dyno proven) map.
