BMC Air filter

Does fitting one of these invalidate the car warranty?

I know replacing the exhaust back box doesn't and that the BMC is fitted as part of the EsseEsse kit but I like to know about this point.

If nobody knows, I'll try to get to the dealers tomorrow.

There is no black and white answer to this one. If you changed the air filter, and your brakes started to play up, there probably wouldn't be a problem. But if you changed the air filter and the engine management light came on, whether it was the filters fault or not, you are leaving yourself wide open for a bill to correct whatever is wrong.

Its risky. Changing the air filter does allow engine to suck more air which deffinitely changes its behaviour. ECU might have some problems with that...

Perhaps I might wait for the 5 years warranty to expire. ;D

It's a dealer-supplied part, which you could ask your dealer to fit.  I can't see why there would be a problem, personally.

Probably one to escalate to Italy, I reckon, via the dealer.

I'd like to know a definitive answer to this, too, since I'm considering doing the same.

    Hi guys,

looks like BMC filter for GPA has some problems now.

The problem is that due to the high temperature below the hood, the filter become deformed like this:

by now, we DO NOT KNOW if this is really a problem. We contacted BMC staff to have a reply about this. They are investigating the issue, i will let you know as soon as I will have any news (in a few days, I think).

DON'T PANIC FOR THIS: nobody had engine failures or broken parts due to this issue. BMC does not know if this really is a problem. The odd fact is the the K&N filter does not get deformed, and not every BMC get deformed (10% is good, 90% gets deformed). However, BMC is a good company and it's making tests to give as an answer as soon as possible. Many EsseEsse in Italy are equipped with BMC filter, and no one had problem.

I'll keep you updated from Italy. I have a brand new BMC filter, and I'm waiting for equipping it.

    Bye,

    Irvin

Get one of these on it. Will give you a few more BHP and a bit more torque ;) Nice custom made bit of kit that is routed better than the standard airbox.

My dealer hasnt said anything to me about it when its been into them for warrenty work in the past.

I noticed that the engine bay does get exceedingly hot.
