Celtic Tuning Remap

Has anyone had there Abarth GP remapped with Celtic tuning and what were the results, i.e. BHP, Torque, 0-60 times?
AGP SS TMC with Powerflow Cat Back system 220bhp/260lbs torque

    Surely the folk at Celtic Tuning can offer you an idea?

    They have just emailed me back saying new BHP- 187 and new Torque- 206lbft but I though with the boost on the torque was already 230  ???
    Also no idea on what the improvment would be with the 0-60 time  ???

    If it helps, the standard car produces 155 bhp and 170 lb/ft torque (230 Nm) when running on Super Unleaded with the Sport button ON.

    The esseesse kit gives 180bhp and 200 lb/ft torque (272 Nm).

    I have a removable GTECH tuning box which allegedly gives 180bhp and 210 lb/ft (285 Nm).

    So your remap sits very closely between the last two.

    Do/can remaps course any damage to the engine? also they shouldn't have to be mentioned to your insurer should they as no mechanics (visable) parts have been changed?  ???

    If you modify your car to enhance performance (Whether mechanical or electrical) then of course you have to inform your insurance company. With a modified car they are not taking the same risk as a standard car so they will have to take that into account. If you have an accident and you haven't informed your insurance then it will be null and void. Worth taking the risk?

    What is the Standard Abarth GP's turbo capable of taking without damaging it?
    Also its not worth not telling your insurer if it will make your insurance void but surely with a remap there's no way they can tell if it's been modified or not as the changes aren't visable?

    Doing a rough average of the tuning boxes and remaps currently available it would appear that approximately 180bhp and 210lb-ft (285Nm) is about top whack for the standard turbo.

    There will probably be some variance between standard cars factory outputs to consider as well.

    More than that and you'd need the Garrett turbo, injectors and other bits that comes with the esseesse kit. Then you've got scope for even more tuning beyond that.

    As to the insurance thing, it would appear that people agree to disagree as to whether a re-map can or can't be detected - I have a feeling though that if they really suspected that you'd had
    a remap, post-crash they may well be able to send the ECU off for testing, but to be perfectly honest, I really don't know the definitive answer.

    For peace of mind, it's clearly better to inform the insurance company of the mod and pay the additional premium, which may not be as huge as you'd think.

    when i was buying mine i drove both of them back to back and i really didn't think the kit was worth the 4 k extra.
    over 60 fiats and lancias now broken!

    No - I thought long and hard about it and came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth it, for the following reasons :

    1) The power the GTECH box (or similar) offers that of the esseesse kit, albeit with a very slightly different power delivery due to the IHI vs. Garrett turbo.
    180bhp is plenty enough for me, and more than enough to get you on the wrong side of the law! If I ever need something faster, I'll change the car rather that do any more tuning.
    If I decided to sell I could always remove the tuning box and sell to another Punto Abarth or Mito 155 owner. I'll bet it wouldn't hang around for long.....

    2) Suspension - the esseesee kit only changes springs, not dampers, and even then the 'drop' is only a little bit more. After market kits are available -cheap and possibly better, eg. the Eibach ones that seem to get good reviews. Also I have a lot of speed humps around me, so lowering more than stock is a no-no for me.

    3) Brakes - esseesse kit includes 'drilled' discs (but same material) and different compound pads - I found the stock brakes to be more than adequate - even with a little bit of extra power/torque.
    My car will never see a 'track day' so stock is fine with me.

    4) Filter - it's only a BMC drop-in panel filter at the end of the day, which you can buy on Ebay anyways.

    5) Exhaust - esseesse kit one is a big disappointment - it should have been better. Not convinced by the sound nor it's ability to release any extra power - physically it doesn't look an awful lot different from the stock one - unanimously I believe after market is a far better proposition - plenty of choice, too. Myself, I don't want it noisy - so I'll stick with stock for now.

    6) Wheels - don't need the fancy 18's. The white ones in particular are no doubt a pain to keep clean. The optional black 17" wheels are fine with me.

    7) Warranty - there are obviously concerns about this. But GTECH and possibly some other companies offer a 'third-party' warranty to cover engine, turbo, etc. - so it's all good.

    So to summarise - I'll be keeping my £4K in the bank - deposit for next car  :thumb:

    Cheers Dave I feel exactly the same, it's defo not worth £4000 especially as I don't want my car any lower because of humps, dodgy roads etc. Also prefer my black 17 alloys, exhaust doesn't seem much different the only things I'm really interested in are the BHP (how do you fit that remap box you have btw)? maybe the drilled disks (probably get on ebay but not really that fussed) and the BMC air filter which I've seen on ebay.
