You say that the intercooler is a tight fit. Could you remove the old fit and fit the new without removing anything else, major that is?

I have just had the Forge intercooler fitted to mine, I got Lipscomb's to do it as the front bumper has to come off to do the job, and while the instructions supplied are quite comprehensive it would be possible to do it yourself if you have the time/patience/garage space at home.

I have also spent the morning fitting the Forge induction kit, I have to admit it took a couple of hours to do despite the claim it is a 45 minute job. But now it is on there it looks great, I just need to take it for a test drive.

Thanks for that.

Being cheeky do you still have the instructions? I wouldn't mind a look at them if possible.

Yes I still have the instructions, they are quite useful step by step and colour photos of each stage.

I have also just been out for a quick drive, and the induction system sounds great. There is hardly any noise during normal driving, but under hard acceleration there quite a roar and a more noticable 'whoosh' during gear changes and lifting off the accelerator.

thats the induction kit Im waiting on.....
yes you can fit intercooler yourself, doing the bumper on your own is tricky though!

Whats the point of a new intercooler? What difference does it make?

Thanks all.

Forge Induction has no proven gains on it and is in basically the same position as the standard. you might aswell just drill the airbox. GSR is only induction worth having on the Tjet lump.

on what basis can you say that? coz you have the GSR maybe?....
1 you can actually get hold of Forge, they offer very good customer service
2 its cheaper and basically the same
3 who really cares about proven power gains, its simply the sound im after
just for info I had a gsr induction kit on order for 3 months!!! in the end still never got through or had any reply from the guy? ....... how good is that!
you may well be right however I bet you cant say for sure that you are....
prove me wrong!!... :thumb:

In answer to some of the questions I've been sent;

The intercooler was £300 + VAT
The induction kit was £160 + VAT
Postage £6 (UPS)
Fitting £350 inc VAT

Driving with just having the intercooler fitted the turbo did spin up a bit faster than previously in particular mid gear acceleration. With the induction kit fitted as well it so far seems alot more responsive, with slightly more torque and improved acceleration, but that was after a short test drive. I will compare mpg over the next couple of weeks to see if there is a major difference, and how it performs generally.

Yeah i say it because i have it, but if your not after power gains then you might aswell of got a KnN and bolted that to the turbo, it would of given you the same sound. I agree peter is V hard to get hold of and it is a p*ss take sometimes but his product is one of the best out there. If it got better gains from where the forge one is positioned then he would of made the kit go to that area of the bay and not down at the bottom!

Im not trying to slate forge in anyway as i know they have some really good products and i should probably try there induction for myself to see if there is that much difference between the 2kits just i know that if the GSR one wasnt any good then he wouldnt sell half as many kits as he does! Hes a one man band that makes them by hand in his own unit which is why the lead time can be long and why he is so hard to get hold of. He also gets taken on by quite a few automotive companys in germany to give them advice on there induction systems so he can go walkabouts for quite a while from time to time but this is no excuse really when he is running his own company :)

I think that Forge kit looks spot on. If only they could do one that good for the 500. Sadly no room, and the current air filter is ontop of the engine so it's going to be hard to make an induction kit for it. We'll have to wait and see.

Yeah ive seen it cant imagine it benefits from increased airflow there. Good if you want your engine bay to look shiney though.

fitted it today, took about 1-1/4 hour to do. I will be giving some feedback to Forge as my fixing bracket was about 1 inch away from where it should have been! its fairly secure tho. It sounds great  :thumb:
