I would say main air intake hose off somewhere, check all the big air hoses. Your not having much luck are you? ???

I know someone who bought a Mini and got it changed after about 17 visits to BMW, they couldn't fix it. So don't put it down to make, you can get a lemon in any make. It may also be something simple to fix. I think the Abarth has spade loads more character than a Mini.

I've had 2 german cars. New vw polo back in 2004 (1.4 - first car) and it was always at vw. Then my Ibiza cupra was riddled with problems (clutch, gearbox etc etc). Don't think it matters where a car is built these days, made as cheaply as possible for maximum profit. :-(.

Oh. And as fir dealers. Omg seat were crap!!

    Vw were excellent though...

have just got outta bed and got the bonnet up, looked around as you said. nothing too obvious but then noticed one of the main pipes had come adrift a little, slotted it back in and revving stopped, took it for a blast around the block and no kangarooing...so looks like it was just that that may have been the problem...

thanks for your opinion, looks like you were right  :thumb:

This may sound a bit wierd but bear with me.
Usually the problem with power loss is a dodgy brake light switch on the brake pedal.
If it has come loose then it may be activating when you are not pressing the pedal. The ECU thinks you are trying to slow down and wont allow any more throttle hence the feeling of power loss.
This usually is coupled with the "ABS/ EBD/ ESP Failure" message on the dashboard.
