should i service or get it serviced ?
« on: December 15, 2011, 12:29:59 am »
the AGP has just reached 18k had it 2 months now got it with 12.5k and the oil and filter was done then.

the question is, should i have the 18k done at the garage or should i do it my self, with the amount of millage im doing i dont see the car been worth much soon any way

im a trained race mechanic so know a thing or two about cars/bikes so can do it my self no problem as long as parts arn't to hard to get.

as i dont have the book to hand im guessing its just oil, filter, plugs, clean air filter(bmc) check belt, pads disc's ect ect the usual things drive shaft boots and bearings

i usualy just keep the invoices ect as some form of proof that it has been serviced

im planing on keeping for 2 years so will have about 60-70k on the clock (then ill buy a supra)

    Service Schedule here: https://abarthforum.co.uk/general-abarth/servicing-info-for-all-abarth-models/

As for doing it yourself, if you're going to be doing that sort of mileage then like you say, I don't see any harm.  I'm doing 18-20k a year so am going to start doing the 6k oil changes myself.

Parts you should be able to order over the counter from your local dealer.

You appear to know what you are doing, over the long term you will make a saving. I have done this in the past, kept all parts receipts and written the mileage and date in the service book. The main thing is you can do it in your time and not have to spend time and money driving to the dealership.

Ye 3rd year of the warranty does it have to be a dealer to keep warranty valid

No, but they do need to be VAT registered and need to use Fiat/Abarth parts :-)
