he is. this has been talked about a lot lately. have a look at the service schedules in general abarth. Alex has put a lot of time and effort into getting the proper up to date service info and its as comprehensive as it could be :thumb:

don't confuse an oil and filter change with a service :thumb:

I'm going to be in a similar boat soon, Carmen has done a whopping 5,500 miles but is almost due the 24k service..

Does the SS need to be treated differently with regards to who does the service?  Just asking as I've heard Abarth being awkward about warranty claims against the SS kit??

Age...  I know she doesn't officially need the 24k service as she's not done that many miles but I've always gone with the 'whatever is soonest' approach :)

the warranty is ok as long as you have the prescribed service done by a vat registered garage using original parts or parts of equivalent quality.

anything you choose to do over and above that can be done by anyone, me and you included :thumb:

There is no "whatever is soonest" with Abarth apart from an oil change.

Yeah, I almost paid for a service at 20k miles because the dealer said "you might aswell just get a 10k service to be safe" (wasnt an abarth dealer mind you, was a fiat dealer) I then looked it up and told him to shove it and I'll be back at 24k for an oil and filter change... Which I actually got done in Glasgows Abarth dealer quite recently

Your esseesse needs an oil change every 6,000 miles.  Even the old, incorrect service books are clear on this point.

If you've only done 17k miles, then your next service will be the 18k mile service plus pollen filter and brake fluid (as I presume your car is now 2 years old), but you should have had two oil changes previous to this.

You don't need a service until you hit the appropriate mileage, but you MUST have the oil changed every 6,000 miles or 12 months (whichever arrives sooner) on an esseesse.

Does the SS need to be treated differently with regards to who does the service?

No, but you need to have followed the esseesse service schedules and it's beginning to sound like some of you are not having 6k oil changes as you're supposed to.

I got my car at 11800 and got an oil and filter change done, then at 18 I got the big service, and 24 got another oil change, so I think I'm doing alright

i had the 18k service this time last year, yes i have had it two years now, but when i tell the abarth dealer i need a oil change he then tells me if i do i lose my warrenty,

about the 6k miles, my dealer never said anything about it and i dont have a service booklet to check up its only on here and the net i found out about it,

well ill book it in for a oil and filter change
    thank you for your time

Well I purchased the car from a Fiat dealer, who did a service (a very basic one I thinks) so I'd like to get a proper full service done so I know the correct materials were used...  Just to be on the safe side! :)

I have phoned up Platts today, and asked them for a oiland filter change, they have told me that I need the 36k service because I have had it 2yrs I printed out the esseesse service sheet that is on this forum and they told me it's all wrong and I don't need to change the oil every 6k miles, I told the guy that other Abarth dealers have told me I do and the answer I got back was: "well the other dealers don't understand want Abarth have said"

That's my dealer for you I think he miss understands Abarth
