36k Service costs...
« on: March 25, 2011, 11:11:37 am »
So, i'm due my 36k mile service. I have booked it with Lipscombe, when they told me the price, £495.50, i almost fell over. So i thought i would ring around my "local" Abarth dealers...

Lipscombe - £495.50
Westover - £557.56
Portsmouth - £580.82 - Offered to price match if they were closer, which they aren't.
Thames - £492.23

All prices inc parts labour, etc...

I will keep my booking with Lipscombe, they've always been great in the past, and i'd rather go with someone i know for the sake of £3.27

Still cheap if that includes Spark plugs or an aircon recon? £500 wouldnt get you much at a Porsche dealer, your looking at 3 or 4k by the time theyve finished ::) and for what ?? you probably didnt even need half of it replacing hahaaaa!  ;D

2.95 hours according to the service book. are they assuming the 2 yearly brake fluid is coinciding with 36000 miles?

Due to those prices seen there I was put off going back to the Abarth dealer for my second service and the local Fiat dealers refused to touch my car saying they were told by Fiat they couldn't touch it.

I asked around to find a place my mate mentioned a place he uses in the end the full service cost £100 then the brake fluid change £26 and these guys gave such great service and used official parts.

If you haven't been given a price yet I'd assume that prices maybe in the region of £500 but thats if you go to the Abarth dealership I have noticed you can save money if you buy your own parts.

Just checked last years prices a pollen filter was £21.97 I bought one myself for £8 and spark plugs I was charged £49.92 this year I bought them myself for £40.

WOW! Get this, was quoted (take a deep breath) £615 for the 2nd service on my A500 today! They should be ashamed, that's 3 weeks work for me for a couple of hours work for them. Shame on people for ripping people off so bad  :thumbd:

This is the price list for the services at SG Petch, quite a difference between the gp and the 500!

    Hope this helps you guys.

Mine has just hit 30K and will be 3 years old in August so no warranty so was going to do the service myself.

Have got an oil filter and oil, still on original brake pads all round, any idea when cam belt needs changing?

The car is superb, done 500 miles yesterday and goes like a rocket and averaged 38 to the gallon doing 100mph at times and loads of mad overtakes, what a car!

Got anther trip to Wales on Sunday so another 500 hard miles, love the car and now my son wants one as well.

    Thanks

    Duncan.
