Brake Pad Recommendation?

Might be overhauling my brakes soon as they're starting to lose performance / feeling. Anyone running something other than standard pads that they'd recommend as a decent upgrade?

Not after anything for on track as the car doesn't see heavy braking often, so brake fade isn't really an issue. Preferably something with good cold bite and decent for a spirited drive... Failing that, what are the standard pads used on the SS and the part code? They haven't been bad, but they haven't been great in all honesty.

Any recommendations appreciated :thumb:

    Stock pads seemed more than upto the job to be honest, I wouldn't be afraid to refit those. The SS pads seem to need to be re-awoken with a bed in procedure if you don't use them hard a lot or they are poor.

    Might give the standards another shot then unless anyone weighs in with EBC / Mintex / Ferodo options. :thumb:

    Are the standard pads Brembo (I assume?) and any idea what the part code is? Cheers!

    Nov 2012 A500, officiano red, 17' petals but otherwise standard (wife beats me severely about the head and body if I talk about customising but I did buy a logoed folding umbrella!) I just love it - the car that is! well, and the wife!!

    £140 is front pads alone - I still have no idea what they are though? I found an ancient post from John regarding the Esseesse pads and it looks as if it's a Brembo pad with a Ferodo lining...? Seems strange to say the least.

    they are brembo pads and it does include the shims but definitely not fitting ;D

    Eurocarparts - Pagid pads and discs all round £200 all in. Considering this myself and fit them myself.

    I am not long fitting new pads too my SS evo. Brembo HP2000 are the pads you are after if your looking for the original and best. They last a time as well  :thumb:

    The Ferodo DS2500s are probably one of the best pads available but they do kick out a lot of brake dust and can be noisy in the cold but when they are warmed up and you use them hard it feels like your eyes are coming out of your head  :D

    I went for Greenstuff on EBC grooved discs. Still a bit squeaky when cold / used lightly, but I found the same on the SS setup, probably worse in fact on the old ones. Would strongly recommend for initial bite and progressive feel in the pedal; especially when they've bedded in properly (you might need to do this a couple of times, first time I didn't get them up to temperature enough). Obviously don't go anywhere near a track on Greenstuff pads, they'll fade in no time and you'll probably wreck your brakes by overheating them.

    Also being half the price of the standard discs & pads is a bonus :thumb:

    Not that I have noticed, wheels are usually covered in dirt, not brake dust.
