Title: Does the AGP have an alarm?
Post by: Lewis on January 16, 2009, 05:43:15 pm
Hey guys,

A while back I remember reading posts on forums disputing whether the AGP has an alarm fitted (+ the effects on insurance). Is this the case?

p.s.s Sorry if this sounds like a stupid questions  ::)

Why are insurance companies still obsessed with alarms?

Any decent car thief (and let's face it, your average scrote joyrider doesn't have the skills to steal any modern car, so they are only targeted by 'professional' thieves) can get round them in seconds, and even if they do go off nobody pays any attention to them anyway!

They don't stop things being stolen from the car either, as by the time anyone even notices it going off the thief has reached in, taken what they want, and had it away.

Yeah I was told it had when I was at a dealer not so long ago Old Boy.....

Thats a good point Scrogg but then isn't it an insurance companies job to use any excuse to squeeze the cash out of your hand!

Having an alarm fitted made no difference to my insurance, so I haven't bothered.

I agree with Magicmole, may I ask a question though,
once the car is locked isn't there an immobiliser?

Yes, it has an immobiliser as standard. This is activated when you take the key out of the ignition.

Agreed. Having one fitted will bring down your insurance with most companies.
