Series 2 Indicator
« on: November 03, 2008, 02:47:50 pm »
I have just got this from my kind dealer Kevin at Rockingham cars.

The series 2 that the chap in Plymouth tried may be one of the first Series 2 which has the old square key. We have noted that the Series 2 with the rounded key, like yours, does have the lane changer facility on the indicator stalk.

So if you have an Abarth with the new style key you will get the lane changer indicator as well.

Arse.  I am one of the condemned with a square key.  :(

Since it's presumably just a bit of software, I'm going to cling to the possibility that chunkymonkey might find a setting somewhere that can be enabled with the examiner.

ill have a look, hopefully tomorrow, however as i said in another post i wouldnt bet my house theres a setting on examiner for it, so dont get your hopes up!

if i cant get it to work, again if i get time, i may fax fiat technical and see if theres a way around it.

its strange that both on e-learn and when i e-mailed the guy in italy they both say that the whole range should have it.  ???

ok, had a play with a GPA today with examiner and theres wasnt a setting to enable/disable the lane change function.

there were no software updates available.

tried a couple of Fiat GP's and they were the same.

ive e-mailed the guy in italy and he said its not possible to put the S2 software on an S1 body computer. it may be that there are 2 different types of body computer being used as there were 2 options, examiner would only let me into one.

ive e-mailed technical and asked if there are any updates in the pipeline, so hopefully more news tomorrow!

Really appreciate you looking at this, chunky.

I guess this is the price you pay for being an early adopter.  :'(

ok, thanks to simon at fiat technical i have an answer for you, hes been on to the press department at fiat and a field engineer had a look too.

doesnt seem as though its something anyones asked about before.

as suspected, if the car doesnt come with lane change function it isnt going to get it. there are no plans for a software update.

i havent seen a round key for a GPA, but it sounds as though its the same as the 500 key? i mentioned the possibility of fiat having switched over to the same body computer in the punto as in the 500, hence the same key etc, and he said this is the most likely possibility.

as yet there is no chassis cut-off point as to when it has or hasnt got it.

    no worries.  :)

forgot to add he told me if its got the smaller type of fusebox in the engine bay itll have it too, although theres no way youre gonna tell unless you have 2 side by side or youve seen a few and know the difference.
