Strange noises and rattle from behind
« on: November 04, 2008, 06:04:21 pm »
...anyone else experienced that when driving on bumpy roads (hard, mechanical, squeeky-ish noise)? I must confess, I didn't spend much time discovering what seems to be an issue but I'd love to hear it from someone, that allready found out what causes it to rattle.

Thanks folks!

hmm, i'm sure I read a problem like that on the fiat forum somewhere. I can't find it though.

There's alot of issues that have been reported there so that's a good place to look if no one here can answer.

Even make a topic on there. I'm sure they will know.

Obviously this forum is better!  :P but im sure you will get a faster answer on there at the moment  :)

The problem with asking the FF is that you will only get experiences from a Grande Punto. The suspension system on the G.P. Abarth is different to even the sporting.

yeh true. I was assuming it was more of a body issue. Like squeeky door lock or something.

    is it definitely behind you?

have had quite a few 3 door grande punto's where the door striker plates were dry and rubbing, sounds like the noise you may be talking about? a thin film of multipurpose grease did the trick everytime.

may possibly apply to the boot catch too.

One of the dealer cars I drove had a similar rattle which seemed to come from inside the bodywork at the side of the passenger behind the drivers seat.

The rear seat not being completely latched home is quite a common one, too, apparently.

And anything to do with seat belts.  The front passenger belt buckle is a favourite - I've been convinced I've had something rattling around in the boot only to find the seat belt had become twisted and was knocking against the door pillar trim.  ::)

Yep, the passenger seat belt is a bit of a pain.
Also noticed that the passenger seat seems to vibrate giving a low noise.  Perhaps I should just give people lifts to cure it.  ;D
