Abarth 124 Spider / Are prices going up?
« Last post by A on May 12, 2021, 06:25:56 pm »
Hi everyone

I've kept a little eye on auto trader over the last year of so and I'm sort of feeling that prices are going up a little.

Through the winter prices appeared to range between £15k - £20k depending on age and spec etc.

Of late prices for a few cars have gone over the £20k threshold and one today is £21,500.

Compared to some MX5's I had felt the 124 was really good value, so maybe its just the market catching up? Let me add I'm no expert on the car market so if anyone knows better please share the knowledge / experience.  Also I'm not advocating this as an investment, I'm strongly of the view this is a car to enjoy today.

Anyway car value is possibly worth a double check before you next insure it.

Happy driving everyone

A

Autoglym do a clean and protect kit

https://www.autoglym.com/convertible-soft-top-clean-protect-complete-kit

I used it on my sister's mini and it works well, I recon you could clean your roof twice or even three times per kit.

Its amazing what crap comes out!

As a new owner, how do I know if the exhaust valve is stuck open!!  It's not the quietest I've ever owned but at what point should the valve open as there's no discernible difference at start up to pushing on?  Car's on 9000 miles

SD card ordered as is on its way.  The infotainment seems relatively intuitive, until it isn't!

So far, so good and the car's a gem.  I really don't intend doing anything to the car until I've lived with it for a while as it ain't too shabby out the box.  Tyres will need changing after a few thou miles and I'll probably switch from the OEM Bridgestones to Michelin Pilots.  Other than that, all's good

"A great insurance company - will beat or match any quote you get, they've beaten mine saving me around £75. However, the policy they gave had alot more with it as extras and great customer service - thanks again Chris Knott, thanks to Kim for all her help. Hi,

If you are running an s260 to its capabilities you are already running 250-260 hp. This output is considered the max safe limit before opening up the engine and addressing its internals

Tim.

Thanks for the info Borderline.

I may consider this then after what you have described.

Mine had a brand new gearbox under warranty three years ago, and a new clutch at the same time, I only do around 2K per year.

But my gear changes and sometimes even getting it into gear is not that smooth, sometimes it's dificult completely, so I may give your idea a try to see what happens.

Thanks again.
