Abarth 500 / Re: Bluespark impressions
« Last post by J#Pants on March 14, 2024, 09:30:58 pm »
Well I must admit the 2nd gear lag at low revs is there...but as bluesparks told me short change you won't notice it, all the power is at higher revs
But I have noticed the throttle is more responsive in normal mode...almost a semi sport..and sport mode now is just simply
Insane ( bluesparks 3 channel box)...im not planning no more upgrades so the box is left in the recommended C6 ( I want this car to last as it may be the last car I ever buy...hopefully  :thumb:)

Have you tried Bluespark themselves to ask why it is still laggy in normal mode.

No, but I believe there are some reasons :

- I think Abarth engines are like that (the 124 as well), you can read many times that most people say that under 2000-2500 rpm normal mode is not very lively and feel slow for a 145 hp light weighted car (depend of you have to habit to drive), you have to stay above 2500-3000 rpm and then it's nice
- The biggest gain from the Bluespark is from 4000 rpm and more, you can feel it cause instead of feeling the turbo tapering like when stock, the car starts to pull harder :D they do not ask too much at low rpm I think for safety reasons, the IHI is a small unit
- Human gets used fast to good things, so I might now find the power with the Bluespark totally normal even if there were some gains at low rpm too, that's why it's important to take measures and times ;)

Abarth 500 / Working temperature
« Last post by japaneseabarth on March 14, 2024, 04:37:48 pm »
Hello yall i am new owner of abarth.i drive 2013 esseesse with 100k kms and everyday when i go to work i am getting confused about water temperature gauge.in the morning it needs lot of time to run up to temperature and sometimes when 4 bricks are fully loaded it drops down by one and then it becames 4 again.external temps are from 2-5 c in the morning and 7-10 c in the evening.it runs up to temp more easily when i am heading back to home but in the mornings it needs 15-20mins to fully go to working temperature.is it normal?

Thanks in advance :)

Update if it does help anyone :
So I gave a try to C, and concerning the low down torque, I did not notice a difference with E, still same lack in normal mode and low rpm.

However it helped me realize that E is a too high setting for my fuel (91 oct/95 ron) and that C is enough, cause I get similar results C or E for my 80-120kph shootings.

My theory is that E settings will gain you nothing without using a 95oct/98 ron minimum fuel (and upgraded intercooler probably), so even worse, E might be counter productive (asking too much to turbo, consequently raising too much temperature) in certain situations (multiple what in a row) if you only have access to crappy 91oct like me.

I was with someone that filmed my dashboard with some 60 to 130-140kph on perfect flat road that been useful to compare to other videos online on the 80-120 kph in 3rd (easier to compare a range than a 0-100kph which implied a good skill on not losing traction to make a good time).

My best 80-120 was 4.60 sec (image per image time).

My best stock was around 5.10 sec.

And various measures I made by download some Youtube footage of other people and comparing image per image too :
Stock : 5.06 sec
Stock #2 (I suspect a remap or a slope) : 4.64 sec
Pista 160 hp : 4.63 sec
Competizione (several different videos) : 4.00 / 4.67 / 5.25

I don't know if my times would have been much quicker if I was alone in the car but I can only raisonnably say that the power with a Bluespark for the 145hp on 91oct should be around 160/165 HP like a Pista or a Turismo, the Competizione seems to be a higher league, speed will raise quicker and quicker also after 120 kph, thanks to the Garett turbo.

Thanks for the reply's so far

When I say about the Stereo upgrade - I am talking more about the factory fit Beats system - is that worth the extra over the standard?

@Klystron - do you have any pics of yours with the seat delete? I've never seen a cabriolet version with it - I am thinking of doing purely for a practicality point of view but I hear what your saying and agree in adding back in stiffness.

Thanks again

Hi Folks,

So I'm looking around at taking the plunge on a Series 4 however I'm a bit confused on specs. (for the UK)
Does the range go;

T-Jet (Base)
Turismo
Trofeo
F595
Competizione
Pista

Is that about right? - I'm swaying towards a Comp.

Do all UK Comps come with LSD's as standard fit?

Has anyone attempted to fit cruise control using the Factory Stalk from a 'normal' 500?
Same question but with the heated seats?

Beats - worth the extra?

Weird one this - can you do a rear seat delete with the 595c? What does this look like?

Any other option's that I should look for / nice to have / essential?

Thanks

Not all Comp's come with LSD this is part of the competition pack.

I had an after market cruise control on my previous Esseesse (you missed that of your list and should probably go above the Comp) and it was great and only cost about £300 fitted if I remember correctly.

Any Hifi upgrade would be better than the useless standard equipment.

Yes you can get a rear seat delete kit.

I done a rear seat delete on mine, but the mounting blocks under the floor are a bit pants. But this can be beefed up to make the floor a bit more sturdy. If your going to remove the rear seats look at fitting a rear chassis bar, to stiffen up the rear.

Hifi upgrade, you can get better speakers and a sub woofer, this can be fitted under the floor of the rear seat delete kit.
