Code 198A4000 is another variant used in Alfa Mito and Fiat Grande Punto. Just be sure its a T-jet 1.4 16v and not multiair, unsure if multiair cylinder head compatible with T-jet manifolds etc.
Can always run any more info you get past me , just ask, if im around, happy to help  :thumb:

how has it failed mechanics eg thrown rod or other damage or is it just worn out, if it is just worn out have you considered getting it rebuilt by a specialist engine builder it could be blue printed and balanced giving you a far nicer unit.

My engine model is: 312A1000.

The cam pulley bolt worked loose, pistons hit the valves and bent the valves. It is perceived that the engine block may be damaged due to each of the 16 valves having hit the pistons.

There are many different secondhand engine models available online therefore need to know if I can chose from other engine models other than 312A1000 for my car which gives me more choice/options.

I have a 2017 MTA the trick is to learn how to use the gearbox planting the foot into the carpet and flicking the paddles won't cut it, it requires mechanical sympathy in auto a slight lift of the throttle when you anticipate a change up, it took me a few days to get the hang of it the gear changes are imperceptible and quick, I think most of the criticism of the MTA gearbox is not justified you just have to learn how to use it, if you believe it is genuinely slow get a scan to check the parameters.

Hi everyone,
Long story short, the engine of my 2009 Abarth 500 esseesse has totally failed and needs replacing.  ::)

The code for my engine is 312A1000. Does anyone know which other Abarth 500 engine variations I could install and still use the same ancillary items/ECU/turbo etc please?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

- Richard.

Hi guys,

thank you so much for your messages, I end up buying a Stock Abarth, 2010 cabriolet MTA, full service history, Cambelt and water pump done 1k miles ago and I have new receipt for a new gearbox fitted.
I'm planning to put a forge intake on it, Coilovers and do a tune on it. not necessary for the power but apparently will cure a bit of the gearbox lag. Is it true?
what do you guys recommend to add/ modify on my car?
Many thanks guys

Abarth 500 / Re: What a difference! (Bump stops)

Update on Febi Bilsein/Coupe shorter bumpstops. It's all true,  the whole car rides so much better ! For info' mines a 2019 Comp' with O.E. Koni FSD dampers and O.E. springs that I believe are Eibachs supplied to Abarth and the bumpstops can be changed through the lower spring coils without dismantling anything or undoing the lower bolts. Cost me £22 on Ebay and literally ten minutes to fit once the car was jacked up. Long O.E. bump stops just pull out by hand and the new shorter ones push through the coil gap and locate into the holding hole with a little help from a large flat blade screw driver. It's crazy how effective this cheap mod' is and well done to whoever came up with it. Car rides so much better over broken surfaces and corners much more settled now the chassis can load up properly rather than skip or buck. Brilliant folks, GO DO IT !  :thumb:

RE Stickers:

They used to come with them but unfortunately I can't find a pic right now.  Most interior shots are too zoomed in to see the pillar.  My UK spec '09 had one, silver as you mentioned, somewhere on the pillar near the striker/latch.  My one stated 135 as that was what all were from factory at the time.  The sticker was not updated as part of the Esseesse package I had fitted before delivery.  A similar sticker was also on the 1.4 160hp Alfa Mito I had as a courtesy car when I had the Blue&Me unit replaced.

It looks like it might differ from country to country. I did find pics that show a yellow and white sticker which I think is a tyre inflation guide.  Some also had this plus another one lower down on the curve at the bottom of the pillar but I can't make any of that out from the pictures.

Sorry to hijack this a little but our 2010 Abarth 500C MTA has a silver sticker on the B pillar that looks OEM and says it is 140bhp ?  As far as buying one goes I would always look at service history, doesn't matter if done by owner or not as long as they have receipts for parts etc and lets face it, you can always tell another petrol head
