Hoping to join the A500 club!!!
« on: February 15, 2011, 05:42:37 pm »
Hi all!

Looking at my first purchase of the mighty A500 and have a couple of questions..

Firstly, are parking sensors available? I see they are available on the C but not on the hard top ??

Also, do they come with a factory fitted alarm and/or immobiliser or is there an option im  not aware of?

Thanks for any help!!

J

    Hi and welcome

I had my sensors fitted as an extra at dealer, well the guy actually can come to you. bout £250.

no alarm factory fitted, I believe you can get a fiat one fitted, but most of the forum don't have one. When I bought mine I was dead set on an alarm, but have now come to the thought that if i don't have anything on show and they haven't got a key, its not going anywhere.

Parking sensors on a 500 ha ha ha what's the point!!!!

The car is only two foot long lol, waste of money if you ask me.

I used to drive a Vectra estate without parking sensors and managed fine. :thumb:

Thanks for that. Ill ask them about it.

Fair enough about the alarm although i take it, it has an immobiliser fitted?

Its going to be parked in a town centre most of the day and so its just a little reassurance.

    Good for you mate.

As my wife will be using it most of the time, ill tell her that she needs to grow a bit before she can use it.

The  parking sensors are really good.  For me they are a neccessity as I reverse out of a sloped drive with a hedge at the end and the visibility is poor.  The other plus point is that they beep just before you put it in reverse which is very usefull if your other car has a 6 speed gearbox

Immobilisers must be fitted by law nowadays so it is standard.  I was also tempted by an alarm but nobody responds to them anymore and I got fed up with false alarms on my previous car.

No problem,£90,they fitted it at my house in under an hour. There is annual sub of £135.It does actually work, had to have my previous car moved by the AA on a recovery truck and I got a phone call within quarter of an hour, did I know my car was on the move?
