595C MTA Competizione - New Owner
« on: February 18, 2019, 10:00:59 am »
Hello,

We became the owners of a 2017 595C Competizione a couple of weeks back so thought I had better introduce ourselves - Me and the other half that is!

Coming from the Subaru world we decided that we would like something a little bit smaller to compliment the Subaru 3.0 Outback Estate we have so happened across an Abarth 595C MTA with just 8k miles on it and one owner. So far very pleased but have a couple of questions which I will be searching the forum for answers.

First - After a lengthy trip to South Wales at the weekend in mixed weather I found it very difficult to clear the rear screen due to lack of a wiper on the "C" variant. Anyone have any top tips on how to keep it clear in that sort of weather? I have cleaned it with Rain X but it still seems to get very dirty. Dare I ask if anyone has fitted some sort of wiper system to theirs?

Cruise Control would be nice? I have seen some posts but not drawn anything definitive from them so is it possible? There was mention of a firm in Colchester who did this which is fairly near to me but no name and no luck with Google so any pointers gratefully received!

Hope to contribute positively to this forum going forward!

Best regards,

David :thumb:

First of all, warm welcome to the forum David,

As to cruise control, I have one I fitted to my 500C SS MTA, perhaps this will help:-

Regarding the rear vision, it is a problem.
I leave the HRW switched on which helps dry any moisture and keeps the door mirrors clear

I regularly apply rain-x to the rear window on our "C". It's not perfect but it does help.

As for cruise control, the company in Colchester no longer offer it. On our last one we had it done at Conrad Anderson in Birmingham but though they still supply the kit they no longer fit it.

So on our new S5 we had it done at Motormods in Cheltenham who I can STRONGLY recommend! They also fitted heated seats for us and hardwired in our dashcam so all the wiring is now hidden from sight.
Very professional and did a fantastic job for reasonable money - they're in a lovely part of the world and will loan you a car to go and make something of the day while they're working on your vehicle.

Ours is an MTA also so you'll be reassured they'll not be working on one of these for the first time!

If you get a kit from Conrad Anderson, you can get any auto electrician to fit it. It is quite a simple job, once fitted it needs calibrating.

    Hello,

Thanks for the info. Thought I would post up a reply that I received from a supplier of Cruise Controls etc.

I have removed the prices but if you want to know them please PM me.

    "Good afternoon,

We can supply and fit our aftermarket cruise control to your vehicle. This system includes a stalk that will sit to the left hand side of your steering column, and will provide set, resume, accelerate, on/off and 2 pre-set speed settings. When the cruise control is turned on the light on the stalk will turn green, when the cruise is then set this light will show amber. The system also works as a variable speed limiter, however you may only use the one function at any one time. I have attached a couple of example pictures of the stalk for your perusal. We would need the vehicle for around 2 hours to complete the installation.

We offer heated front seats. This includes installing carbon fibre heating elements to the base and lower back of the driver and front passenger seats. The small switch has two heat settings and is usually installed on the base of each seat.

Our electric lumbar support is available for both front seats. If you have these fitted with the heated seats, installation time is reduced so we can offer a discount.

We do have courtesy cars available for your use whilst work is being completed.  All work could be completed within a day.

I have attached some example photos but please don’t hesitate to contact me if I can be of any further assistance.

    Kind regards,

    Victoria (motormods) - 0800 026 8222 in Cheltenham"

Hope that is of use to somebody?

    Best regards,

Exactly the same system as what I have and fitted by the same company.
    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
