New from Cheshire
« on: May 21, 2015, 11:43:32 pm »
Evening all, newby here  :-[

I've been lurking around for a few of weeks whilst mulling over purchasing a 595c Competizione.

Well decision made...

I placed my order this afternoon with John at Vospers Plymouth, despite the 500 mile round trip (luckily coincided with a business trip to Devon) It was well worth it to get good, competent and knowledgeable service.

Spec as follows...

595c Competizione 180
Cordolo Red
Black roof
Sabelt black fabric - being retrimmed in Ferrari Tan leather, including full door panels.
Magnesium formula alloys
Yellow Calipers
Interscope Hifi

Have also ordered it with the MTA transmission, BUT i am wavering on this already. Luckily John has said i have a few days to mull this over before my order is confirmed.

Also have a raft of carbon fibre additions planned.

Now the difficult part, waiting until September for delivery  :(

    Hi and welcome

Looks like you ticked most of the boxes to create quite an individual car :thumb:

    Welcome along :D

Ah yes, that red is going to be very popular, good choice!

Regarding the Transmission, entirely up to you, have you driven one with the MTA?

    Hi

Yes,  john at Vospers let me have a brief drive in his 50 aniversario yesterday.

I'm still on the fence, basically we've had "flappy" paddles in the last 4 or 5 cars and to be honest probably become a bit lazy on the manual gearbox front. I just don't want to go with the MTA and then regret it.

The car will mainly be driven by the better half, she's currently got an M3 convertible with DCT paddle shift so is used to this type of gearbox and to be honest you would not order an M3 with a manual gearbox when the DCT is so good. I'm just not sure if the MTA is the best choice in the abarth?

    opinions either way greatfully received...

Go out in the Manual one and you will soon make your mind up, the MTA is a nice box if you know how to drive it, normally you lift off the throttle on gear changes to get the best out of it as it's basically a robotised manual.

    Hi and welcome

No doubt you will make alot of people on here jealous, with the choice of car you've gone for.  :thumb:

As regards to the transmission, its entirely up to you and your better half, but like PORTHOS said, go out in a manual and see what you think. The MTA is ok, you just need to know how to treat it, so to speak, lifting off whilst changing gears, otherwise can be a tad jerky, compared to the BMWs anyway.

Personally, the manual is the transmission for me. Will suit the competizione personality more, but entirely up to you, you wont be disappointed with the experience either way. Have fun.

    Have you ordered the convertible?

Speaking to John from Vospers today where i have ordered mine he informs me the system is still not open to place convertible orders for 180bhp, but expects it to open any day soon. Based on his experience and the factory shutdown during August he is not confident of any convertible cars arriving before early September  :(

I'm keeping everything crossed that somebody pull a rabbit out of the hat and it arrives before the summer shutdown.

Finally decided to ditch the MTA box and have changed my order to manual  ::)

    Now the impatient wait begins!!!
