I may be wrong but I thought the AC was optional as you can spec a car without it on the car configurator and in the status code section of the website during the first stage it says you can add or remove ac at this point.

Or am I getting confused between the dual climate control thingy?

Hi Riceman.....is your daughter aware of this present?
or is it going to be a surprise?
Hope she doesn't read the forum, or know your tag name!!!!!
when's her birthday, and how old?
She is one lucky lady  ;D
note to self.... do not attempt to contribute to any discussion on engine modification and tuning stuff, remember you know nothing about them.

She' sort of aware - She didn't want a Mini like her older sis so I took her out and showed here the Abarth and she fell in love with it (as did my wife). She'll be 17 in November but I doubt she would know that this forum exists. I ordered way too early but I wanted a guarantee it would be here for the big day. I know I am going to get a lot of grief about it being too powerful for a 17 year old etc but I am of the opinion that to get a 1 litre snail means the car is constantly thrashed to an inch of its life when its not designed to do so, has inferior brakes and inferior handling. Get something sporty and in reality it is not driven any faster but it is a whole lot safer having the brakes and the handling. Plus, I believe a car should be something that you use sometimes for pure pleasure not function and I cannot think of any small car that when I wake up in the morning, get up and go for a drive just for the hell of it.

Are you not worried about the lack of experience leading to the odd bump/ding/dent (or in most cases) a light crash? Lets hope not of course, but i don't know one person around here who hasn't written off their first car! Then again, the roads in Wales are a little different. Would have loved an Abarth for my first car though!  :thumb:

My son has written off his fair share but tbh my view is that given them an old hunk of junk and they wont take as much care plus she's a girl (please no screaming sexism at me - the statistics / insurance premiums agree with me) so is less likely to. It's not an expensive car to repair for minor dings and scrapes and the final selling point is that if she is going to have a crash I would rather it be in a new NCAP rated car with all the latetest research behind it then a 10 year clunker that hasnt even got ABS.

I am lucky as I have had my fair share of high performance cars and have found I have got into more "scrapes" when driving some under powered, non-handling, bottom of the range banger than when in something a whole lot better.

Yep, Great Dad and a lot of sense in that. After all, girls are a bit more sensible....

Learn to drive properly in a car that you enjoy and will do its best to keep you safe is what I say.

However, I will take it all back if it's an esse esse!
