Hello from Essex!
« on: September 02, 2014, 01:49:31 pm »
Hi all

My name is Clare and I currently own a supercharged fiesta ST which I have for sale as am hoping to replace with an Abarth 595.  Test drove a Turismo at the weekend, although I actually want a Competizione for the Sabelts… I think the dealer was new, and didn’t really know what he was talking about much unfortunately.  Obviously the exhaust noise will be different, but if the Competizione drives like the Turismo, then it’ll be great!!  I was very surprised how nippy the little car was and I certainly think it would be a fun little car to own.

He priced me up a Comp at list price (he thought I’d have to pay extra if I wanted the Monza exhaust, and had to check with his manager when I told him it came with one!), which I’m sure they could do something on, but when I got home, I used the Abarth Configurator to price up a Turismo with the Sabelts, and it was almost a grand less.  With the Sabelts specced in, the only difference I can see between the 2 models is the Monza exhaust, Comp has Xenon lights, and the pedals/kick plate’s are slightly different.  Are there any other differences between them?  There is a possibility that I’d change the exhaust at some point anyway, and I didn’t mind the noise from the Turismo I test drove.  One of the reason I want to change the Fiesta is because it is so noisy anyway!  Then it’s only really the lights.  So just wondering if I would be better off going for the Turismo and add the Sabelts?

Anyhow, it’s a matter of getting my fiesta sold, and getting my order in once I’ve decided for sure which model (and colour) to go for!

Looking forward to seeing what Abarth life is like after being in a Ford for the past 8.5 years!  Oh and here's my other little beast:

Hi Clare , welcome to the site. Which ever you choose will be a great car, but i'd have the turismo as I prefere the dash the same colour as the body colour and I think the ten spokes are a nicer wheel!

    Welcome to Abarthisti

You can use these to configure your 595 to your spec:- :thumb:

As to the smaller differences, I sure this thread will generate a few answers :thumb:

Nice to see you'll be coming from a Fiesta ST, again should generate a few comments

Hi guys, thanks for your replies.

I'll definitely take a look at those configurators, and looking forward to hearing opinions on the small differences.

Ha ha.  I guessed the Fiesta could create some comments.  A new mk7 was the obvious choice upgrading from my mk6, but they are just so so common, especially where I live, and I want something a bit unique.  I did test drive the new ST and it was very nice, but the Abarth felt more sprightly.  Bearing in mind i'm coming from almost 300bhp, the Abarth I think felt quicker, and throttle response much better.

I posted a picture of my mini, but I can't see it so not sure if it worked.

    Welcome onboard :thumb:

The Abarth may not be as quick as some of the slightly bigger hot hatches on the market, like the new Fiesta ST or Pug GTi but its size and peepy little engine make it feel almost as quick when behind the wheel and there is good scope for tuning as well once the warranty is finished ;)

Garrett turbo sway will happily see 200bhp+ and there are members on here with 220-230bhp with this conversion, but a lot of people are happy to float between the factory 140bhp/160bhp (model depending) and 180bhp/190bhp with various mods all on the standard turbo. Only thing that currently lets the 500 down is exterior mods, but having said that the factory bumpers and bodykit are pretty nice and enough of a difference from the base model and sport to keep most people happy.
The fact the Abarth wears its 'own' badges helps set it above the rest as well :thumb:

If carbon fibre is your thing there are some nice bits floating about plus with a few members experimenting with decals and wraps there are plenty of options open away from fibre glass bodykits etc.

Love to see some pics of the Fezza, I think you must have posted ex amount of posts to post pics if I remember correctly?!

    Great info; thanks for that.

I'm not really planning on modding the Abarth much; i've kind of done that all now, and the reason for change is to have a car that is pretty much standard.  I have a feeling i'll change the exhaust system and filter perhaps, and the TMC box looks good to get the car up to 180bhp ish.  That would be quite nice.

He said end of December/beginning January. But in the hope it may be sooner. The longer it takes the more cash I can save though. Lol. Can't wait now. Had a test drive of the Comp before ordering and love the seats and the exhaust sounds great as I was a bit worried it would be too loud but it was quieter than my mini!  ;D
