Hello from up north!
« on: November 24, 2008, 12:41:20 am »
Hi i'm Joe and live in sunny Lancashire. I put my deposit down on a 500 abarth at the beginning of last month and i'm looking forward to a test drive! My local dealer is Platts garage in Stoke, so would be interesting to hear from anyone else who's ordering from there. I currently drive a 500 1.4 sport, so i'm hoping the abarth is gonna be really special to make it worth upgrading. My only concern is insurance as being 20 it could be prohibitive :-\

Anyway, nice to find somewhere us Abarth fans can share info and friendly banter! Good work setting up the forum!

Cheers, Joe

Welcome Joe, Is there nobody who would quote for insurance yet? The car is already launched on the continent.
    Visit Vospers Abarth, Plymouth

I've tried a handful of different insurance companies but they've either never heard of the car, or they don't speak English.

It's frustrating because I don't want to commit to an order if I can't afford the insuracne premium and thus lose my deposit if I back out, but I also don't want to have to wait until the car's launched and the insurance companies are aware of it. By that point i'll probably have to wait until 2010 for one!

Are there any insurers you or anyone else could recommend who may be abale to give me a rough idea?

    Thanks

Thats a really good price! I have 3 years without a claim so does this account for 3 years no claims bonus? I have no idea - insurance drives me mental! By the looks of things I'll be 21 by the time i'll be insuring a 500 Abarth anyway, so that could well make a difference! I'll give elephant a call though. Thanks mate  ;D

yes it will be on the policy - you will have a sheet with the amount of no claims on it but if you have been driving on YOUR OWN polocy for 3 years with no claims that usually means 3 years no claims bonus :)

yea it is a fantastic price so! hope you can get it 2! i see no reason why not!.... one bit of advice if you have a member of your family over 40 and been driving for over 15 years with no claims put them on as a NAMED driver... droped my quote by 100-120 quid (roughly - cant remember exact amount)

    good luck :)

Thanks for the info! I'll be sure to stick the parents on the policy too! (not that i'd ever let them drive it)   ;)
