Hi There
« on: January 12, 2009, 05:07:54 pm »
Hi all,

Only found this place at the weekend and I've had my Punto Abarth since 1st August.

Absolutely love the car despite a few minor problems, same as everyone elses, squeking brakes, had the  pads out twice now and it seems to be cured this time with loads of copaslip, doors ratling, cured this weekend thanks to the info I found on here as dealers are rubbish.

Now got my music on a memory stick and working as the I Pod won't play the tunes also thanks to the info on this site spent most of the weekend converting them.

Car came from Research garage in Nuneaton, told me it was the first one on the road in the UK, but they also told me a load of other stuff that wasn't true such as they would send me mats, keyring etc which they since changed there minds about.

All in all though a fantasic car and I love it after nearly 6 months and 7000 miles.

Great website, loads of useful info, thanks very much.

Cheers

Duncan.

by the way the creeking doors - has there been anyone else complain about this? more interestingly if they have has it been on a S2 AGP? - just wounding as it was a common fault on the S1 Fiat GP's, maybe it has been sorted for the S2?

Many thanks for the welcomes, didn't realise there are so many Punto Abarths about as have never seen another one on the road and I get all over the country, mostly in the van though.

I'm in Stevenage, I brought the car for my wife really as had an Alfa 159 before and it was a bit big for her and not enough fun for me, I get stuck with my Astra van mostly, I just use it if I have to go to work in a suit and at weekends for fun.

It is a really good fun little car, reminds me of my old Alfasud Ti from years ago for those of you old enough to remember how much fun they were.

Will leave the feedback about the dealer, not all bad, sales guys were very enthusuastic, just the Manager!!

    Hello Duncan

With a quick reference to the mats your missing, I have only ever had two sets in, and devilandgod has one of those, they are on back order, as far as I am aware, I don't know if John501 can shed any light?

I'm glad the sales guys were good at Research though, as a sales representative for Abarth you hold your breath every time you look at the forum!

Apologies, was a bit of a generalisation, thankyou for the help. Was just that I went back and tried to get a price for a damaged front wheel after I hit a kurb, I could never get even a price, asked for some oil and a filter so I could do an oil change, said they'd call when they had some, nothing, won't go on about the mats and key ring. Got some Abarth mats off E bay.

Phoned up another dealer and asked if I could bring the car to them to sort out the rattly doors and the squeeky brakes and when I got there after a 50 odd mile journey they changed their minds and told me I had to go back to where I got the car.

Never mind its sorted now and am delighted with it, am going to get my mate to service it and just hope there are no warranty issues.

I am sure they must have improved, don't think they were geared up when the cars first arrived.

    Thanks guys

    Duncan.
