    Hey Fiona, thanks for joining.

Hopefully everyone can see that they can talk about anything they like here, no matter how inane it sounds, without fear of it descending into bickering as you so accurately put it.

Was always very tempted by an Exige S in white myself...

Hello everybody I'm Portti. I registered on this forum a couple of days ago but I haven't posted anything yet since I'm not from the UK. Hopefully you don't mind non-UK members on this forum. It's good to see a forum dedicated to Abarth and it seems like activity on this forum is growing every day.

Currently I own an Alfa 147 GTA but my plan is to sell it in the spring and import a 500 Abarth from Germany (or somewhere else on the continent) to Finland.

Hey Portti.  How's the torque steer?  ;D

Clearly a fan of Italian metal, so welcome, stick around!

    ..i.  How's the torque steer?  ;D...

On a front wheel drive car with 250 bhp there is bound to be some torque steer, especially on these terrible Finnish roads. However the GTA is such a lovely car that the torque steer doesn't bother me that much.

Oh and yes I do like Italian cars, my previous car was a Fiat barchetta.

    Hi fellow Abarth owners  :)

Looks like Fiona beat me to the registration process.

I'm 39 going on 20 with an expensive adiction to motors.  Also recently moved to a job with a bank but for the previous 18 years was in the book trade.

The Abarth was the only car we could think of replacing the Mk1 Sporting with as couldn't get excited about the rest of the boring Euroboxes.
Hoping the Esseesse kit will transform the handling and feel, but still waiting for local dealers to get the kits in on their demos.

Love messing with cars and learning how to fix them myself.  Also trackdays are a real passion, but think I'm too old and talentless to give up my job and become a racing driver.  Maybe the nipper will fullfil that dream for me.  8)

    Anyway, hello to you all

    Steve

    Welcome, Steve.

You could be like Lewis Hamilton's old man, trekking around the globe at McLaren's expense.  :)

Excellent, but I hope I would have more car control if driving a Porsche  ;)

Hi Everyone, I'm Dave. I live in Rugby and I'm also lucky enough to be married to a petrolhead wife. I work for Jaguar in product development.
I'm 44 and I've got a 500 Abarth on order from Research Nuneaton, with every intention of taking the esseesse option. This will be our third Fiat having had a Cinquecento Sporting for 11 months in 1996/97 before we traded in for an orange Punto GT.
I've been on a couple of sites but the 500 ones seem (quite rightly) emphasised on standard cars and I've yet to join the Fiat Forum.
I'm looking forward to sharing ideas, opinions and anything else you care to mention.
    Cheers!

Welcome to the Forum Dave. My wife also had a Cinq Sporting from new. It was a red one that faded to pink after about 4 years. I hope my Abarth doesn't do that :o.

    Hi,
No, ours was black with red trim which I think for 97 turned orange? Very strange as a model update!
I wonder if P306LAC still exists? We know the Punto doesn't!  ;D

Another former Cinq Sporting owner here, my first car, loved the thing to bits.

They were great cars for what they were. I even saw 105mph on the speedo once. We did loads of miles in it, touring holidays, etc. as the mpg was great compared to what I used to have. I love fast cars, but I also really like cars that feel fast at sensible speeds and the Cinq Sporting was certainly that.
