We've now got a new Abarth user in our family.  Samantha Jones was born Sunday night.  She came home from the hospital Monday in our BMW but will be having her first trip in the Abarth this week.   ;D

    nice one!
Fiona, were you at croft when it got rained off?
Im also a member of lotus on track although I part company with my elise on sunday! There is nothing better for a raw driving experience than an elise/exige in my opinion. Iv'e got a few track days booked for next year, didnt think id have a different car to do them in tho! Although the abarth will be a much more comfortable for next years nurburgring trip! (I had to buy a cushion this year!)
    anyway,
Im Andy (maccy), 25 from County Durham
part ex-ed my elise and smart car for a red abarth with assetto kit.

    Hi Andy,

No, wasn't me at Croft.  I haven't done a LOT day since Snetterton in January when I found out I was pregnant.  Will be at Cadwell on 30/11 tho.

Let us know how you get on with tracking the Abarth.  I'm tempted for wet weather days if I can get a good insurance deal.  Should be fun at the 'Ring - awesome place.  Would love to fit Spa in next year, baby depending.

Hi, my names Paul and i'm 22 from Nuneaton.

Having had numerous Fiats beforehand (just got rid of an 06 Grande Sporting MJTD), the Abarth garage opened in place of a Subaru one, so I checked it out.

I decided to put the Esseesse kit on mine pretty much straightaway, with the grey wheels. As the car is Red, I didn't really want to go for the white wheels.

I do quite a few miles around Warwickshire, so you may see me out and about.

I uploaded some pictures on another post in the "Introduce yourself" section: https://www.abarthforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,164.0.html

If anyone wants to start an Abarth gathering, let me know - ill be there (If i dont run out of fuel first!)

Im Alex, just turned 25 and a Brit living in Holland.

My car history started off with a Ford Sierra 1.8 (mucho fun @ 17yrs old), I then used a Ford Ka for a while before buying my first new car, a Ford Fiesta!

Then I became wise to all things Italian and got myself the black 98 Spider you can in my sig, followed a year later by the new Red one.  That was a complete lemon so Alfa changed it FOC for the White one! :)  The White and Black Spider have just been joined by the wee Abarth 500.  I cant see myself ever owning anything other than Italian cars, except maybe for an Aston Martin at some point. :)

Hello everybody I'm Portti. I registered on this forum a couple of days ago but I haven't posted anything yet since I'm not from the UK. Hopefully you don't mind non-UK members on this forum. It's good to see a forum dedicated to Abarth and it seems like activity on this forum is growing every day.

Currently I own an Alfa 147 GTA but my plan is to sell it in the spring and import a 500 Abarth from Germany (or somewhere else on the continent) to Finland.

    Hi, I'm redmirror.
Portti, I saw your posts. I also live in Finland as married to a Finn. I have already imported a 500 Abarth back in October (the first one  ;D the only one?). I guess you know when importing a new car you better pick a source country with high car taxes so to get a low net export price. So forget about Germany. I got mine from Holland where the net price is € 14285  :thumb:. With the usual options (airco, leather, interscope, 17 inch) the Finnish after-tax price was € 26650 (hintalähde € 23810). Dealer was Nieuwkoop (www.auto-nieuwkoop.nl). Good service, thrustfull, but unfortunately little room for negotiation, although that might have changed in recent months. And a high SS price of € 3750 (I assume no car tax on this, only VAT). But then you could drive on the way back to a German dealer and get the kit for € 3000.

Hello Redmirror and thanks for the very useful info!

I'd be very interested in hearing more on how the registration taxes were determined on your car since I haven't found your car on the Finnish Customs registration tax statistics. I'll write you a personal message later on when I have more time.

In relation to the prices in different countries it is indeed so that the tax free prices in Germany are not as cheap as in some countries which have high registration taxes. So far I've had price offers from Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Austria. Nieuwkoop in the Netherlands didn't offer any discounts and at the moment the cheapest tax free price has been offered by an Austrian dealer. So it might be that I will order my car from there. The problem for me at the moment is that I have to sell my old car first before I order a new one and that is not easy since market is very slow in the current economic climate.

By the way is the white one on this pic your car:

The source of the pic is this topic:

Woops, just realised that I haven't properly introduced myself yet.

My name is Richard Browne but most will easily decipher that from my posting ID as I rarely use a pseudonym on forums.

For my day job I own and am a director of a software testing consultancy called Guild Associates.

I am 45, married with a five (now nearly six) year old son named Jacob and live in a lovely rural setting not far from Chippenham, Wiltshire in the UK.

I have quite a few hobbies but my main ones are technical reading, keeping competition fit (Am a qualified martial arts instructor and a skiing instructor and I currently compete in mountain biking competitions), of course cars and driving and social activities (meeting new people etc).

The cars I currently own/have on order are as follows:

Mercedez ML 270 4x4 (I can see you grimacing! ;D), a Black air cooled 911 model 993 Carrera S (mostly kept in storage due to the UK climate :thumbd:) and I have an A500 on order with the specification detailed in my signature.
