Ordered my 500 today.
« on: June 09, 2010, 08:35:38 pm »
1st post so hello everyone.  Been lurking around the forum for a few days weighing up all useful info and decided to order my black A500 today.  I have never bought a brand new car and never even thought I would until seeing the Abarth.  I cannot wait but unfortunately have to.  Hopefully the middle of August the dealer said.  Not too sure whether to wait to get it registered on a 60 plate though.  If it does arrive before September I'll be itching to get it on the road so may just plump for a 59 plate.  hmm  :D

Also forgot to mention that Bauer Millet have just had a delivery on monday and I was kicking myself today at not ordering earlier

Cheers S600RPN and that picture of yours was one of the ones that help me make my decision on colour, Joe's pictured in the Trough of Bowland and the Lakes was the other

The wait will be unbearable but it is sooo worth it! Never thought I'd have a new car either. I had to wait 74 days. If you are dealing with Luke at Bauer Milletts, he knows how to deal with virtually hysterical, over-excited people (or at least he was given lots of practice earlier this year.....). Details please, details...we love details.....Oh, and I bet you wash and polish your old car this weekend; tell all the people you know (and some you don't about the order); get less sleep than previously; and track the ship across the channel courtesy of Delaney's "when will my ship come in?" post in "off-topic".....Enjoy!  ;D

Yeah took the test drive with Luke the other week and went in again and spoke to Steve who also really helpful as Luke was in Italy, checking over the A500C and Tributo Ferrari I think.  The showroom alone is a work of art in the old arches under an old victorian railway station.

Details.  Well it's black, no stripes, sunroof, climate, no leather seats for two reasons.  The extra cost and the possibility of the sagging as mentioned on this forum, although an extra 800 on top of 16 grand aint that much.  They had an SS demonstrator with the Sabelts in.  Lovley seats, and yeah will probably clean the Clio at the weekend, but somehow not going to be the same as cleaning the 500

I've also seen that thread about the tracking.  Don't worry I have it booked marked already.

Sabelts are lovely. I weakened on them a couple of weeks in! Nice sounding spec. Like the black. Showroom is unbelievable. I could spend hours in there!

Just checking out the pics of yours.  They look really nice.  Right time for a sleepless night dreaming of the car with Sabelts  :thumb:

    G'night

    Welcome :)

It would be a '10 plate if you decide you can't wait, not '59  ???
Same dilema I had mate...   bought a car previously that I registered at the end of July (back when 'Y'  reg was about to change to '51')... and realised a few months later that I should have just held off an extra few weeks for the new Reg rather than being impatient.
Had a similar decision for the A500 recently as well, but thankfully managed to find a car in stock unregistered at a local-ish dealer
For you... 2 weeks.. I'd wait for definite.  How annoyed will you be 2 weeks later when the '60 plates come out & your 2 week old car looks 6mths old?
I'd say that anything up to 6wks before the new reg is seriously worth considering holding off... unless the dealer is giving serious incentives to register it early.

Anyway...  enjoy it when it comes,
    Andy.

Welcome!  First new car eh?!  and an A500.  You're definitely going to have OCD with the cleaning.  Get saving for all your cleaning gear, it'll probably more than the leather seats would cost!

Doh, what am I on about of course it would be a 10 plate!  Thanks for all the welcoming comments.  I am going to have to start buying the cleaning juices now!  Can anyone comment on the price of Paintshield for the front bumper, wings and bonnet at all.  Would have any chips in the black paint possibly with a grey undercoat to shine right through!
