Wife's new car (when she can get the keys)
« on: January 15, 2011, 07:52:40 pm »
Hi All,

If anyone had told me a month ago I'd be introducing myself on this forum, I wouldn't have believed them.

Back in the summer my wife's trusty Citroen Berlingo expired after a 1600 mile trip to Le Mans. She'd always liked the F500 and so I bought a BNW 1.2 Pop. What a great little car (apart from the Stop/Start - we both hated that  :thumbd:)

Fast forward to December and I saw an ad in a Sunday magazine for Abarth. I pass our local dealer nearly every day so I thought it wouldn't hurt to call in and see if the deal in the ad was actually available. Yes it was and the only stipulation was that it had to be a car that they had in stock. Well it just so happened that they had a Pasadoble Red A500 with cloth trim and a Skydome roof - the spec that I would have ordered anyway. It just needed the 17" wheels to finish it off.

The deal was done Christmas Eve, we took delivery a week later  ;D and we love it !

Chris.

There is only one Abarth and clearly there is only one colour! Good choice.
Red A500 SS, Monza exhaust, black leather, white mirrors, Koni FSDs. Not sure what happens under the bonnet but the car still keeps me smiling......must avoid the technical engine-type posts...

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. Seems like a really friendly forum.

Hi Neil. We're in the north east just outside of Newcastle. My wife isn't a 'car person' but is very tolerant of my hobby. She's only ever had sensible family cars but she's driven the Abarth a few times and is getting used to it. The thing she likes most is winding our son up - he has a Panda 100HP but is definitely an Abarth wannabe.

Pic below - thought it hadn't worked but lo and behold it's there  :o

Similar story to ours! Got a 1.2 BNW in Sept 09, but have wanted an Abarth for some time. Once i decided that the days of the Alfa Spider were numbered, i tried to justify the A500.  Erm i struggled to do that but i kept reading the reviews over and over, i decided what the heck and went for it.

Ordered it without driving it, (knowing if it drove as most had documented i would have no issues) and as i expected i absolutely love it! Passadoble also, but standard other than that.. (for now)  ;)
    I came, I saw, I purchased! I love it!
