I have to agree with John on his sentiments and i now feel a little silly about posting my last comment. The G.P.A is a great little fast car but it should only be used to its full extent on a track. This allows you more margin of error with run off areas and gravel traps.
We must always remember that a car is a lethal weapon and it may not just be yourself that gets seriously injured in an accident. Just because your car has a 5 star encap rating and great air bags it doesn't mean that another car involved in an accident has as well.
Thats my sensible post for the night. I'm not saying dont enjoy your car but stay well within your limits.

agreed  :thumb:  best place to learn about your car is on a track but dont bring the track to the road... im not saying im a saiet by anymeans... and we all speed but just we careful :)

is many sound really really silly but you mention throwing the car round tight corners and the handeling great how do you no your not goin to end up in thr farmers hedge  ;D

or is that all to do with the tcs

The two Johns are right in what they are saying and a track, old airfield and the like are the only places to really test out a cars limits and go past them.  :o

The main rules that have kept me safe and ensured that I respect other roads users / pedestrations are as follows:-
    1. I never speed in built up areas, i.e. 20, 30, 40 and 50 limits.
    2. I treat small villages / hamlets which don't have speed limits like built up areas and I drop my speed to say 20, or 30.
    3. I drive within the limits of the road / weather / car. i.e. I don't just drive at 60 because that's the limit.
    4. I don't take risks around corners where I can't see what is around the bend, (especially on narrow country roads).
    5. This one I learnt from experience. I am NOW always very careful overtaking. I got caught out with a hidden dip one night and almost killed myself! If in doubt, don't overtake, day, or night.

There is probably a few more, but basically, I'm careful.

That said, you can still have a bit of fun on the road. Local road knowledge is key for me and there are roads that I know where I would sooner have a spirited drive on than any race track. After all, driving is fun isn't it and being able to go out in your own car whenever you want is probably the best feeling a petrolhead can have. ;D

thanks guys appreciated like you say its the fastest car i have ever owned

I'm being typical tight northerner!!!! I went to work all 18 miles in normal mode and most of the way home too had a detour down country lanes though... It was fun, i liked it  ;D  ;D  ;D ;D

I'm averaging 34mpg at mo from new which i'm happy with. :thumb:

is that not above the listed mpg domc :thumb: cant grumble at that but the sports boost shuld always be on  ;D

I've been driving around since I got mine with the sport boost button almost always turned on and have been getting between 32-34mpg on most journeys. I thought that I would turn it off this week and take it easy. I've been getting about 38-40mpg on the same journeys.

nice! pritty inpressive figures! - the reason i dont turn the sports boost off is because the wheel starts feeling like my old mjet, which wasnt thaat bad a thing... but i have an abarth now so i want it to feel a little sportier.... hench the button stays welded in the ON possition! ;)

the the wheel feed back with the boost on is very satisfying i like the fact the car does exactly what you tell it to and theres zero play in the wheel when its on ;D

Really?  I find the exact opposite.  Horrid and inaccurate with the Boost Button on, much better with it off.

I'm getting to think my car is different from everyone elses.  Snap oversteer if encountering an imperfection in the road during a corner (even as low as 30mph); woolley steering, wobbly suspension.  :-[

I find that while the steering is weighted with said button on, there is quite a bit of play in the wheel, and its a tiring drive on a motorway because you're always having to correct.

I don;t know how it handles with button off, because i'm yet to take it off  :P

    @ Oldboy: here's a comfort mate = same with mine ;)

I do like the car very much though it's just that it's not that PROPPER hot hatch. I dare to say that the 100hp Panda deserves the Abarth badge waaaay more than our GP ;)
