Title: La Bestia Nera
Post by: TGF on May 11, 2015, 01:19:32 pm
This will be my project topic. (All photo's are clickable for larger versions!)

Bought my Abarth 500 after driving a Alfa 156 1.9JTD for 9 years. It is a december 2009 Abarth 500 with only 38.000 km on the odometer July 2014. Color Black, Climate Control, glass roof, leather and 17" rims.

In August after selling my 156, I had her chiptuned to 175BHP and 280Nm torque by SaVaLi tuning. Only had the Sportmode changed, so the non-sport mode is still default factory mode. This is for easy driving in town and in woeful weather conditions it is easier to control the power and traction.

In feb/march this year, I bought a Pogea Racing Carbon Bonnet and a Carbon surround for the Climate control panel from MCCSport in The Netherlands. The price was so good, I couldn't let it pass.

2 weeks ago, after a minimeet with 2 more Abarth's 500, I decided the Bombardone 2.0 exhaust sounds great and still not to loud for the law. Last week it was fitted and not a moment too soon. The old exhaust had seen better days.

This friday I bought 16" winterwheels: Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2

(http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll209/thunder1976nl/Abarth%20500/th_Team%20Dynamics%2016inch.jpg) (http://s289.photobucket.com/user/thunder1976nl/media/Abarth%20500/Team%20Dynamics%2016inch.jpg.html)

Still pondering on what color to have them powdercoated, so they will keep looking nice in the winter. Thinking about a blue color.

And still looking for some new wheels for the summer. Many wheels were on my wishlist, including OZ Ultraleggera, Barracuda Voltec T6, but these rims are too expensive. I love the look of the M Technica Turbo wheels, but they are 18", can't be bought in Europe and are also too expensive. Found the same wheel by JR wheels, the JR14. Only problem: they are 17x8.5 with an ET of 15. That might pose some problems with fitment. Have some outstanding questions with the seller in The Netherlands. Other choice would be Traklite Clutch, but limited color options, 1 seller in the UK, very high shippingcosts. Also very wide rims, which could have same problems as the JR14. Further options are the ASA Tec AS2 in Smurf Blue or Tornado Red. Cheap and exact fitment.

Further projects:

- Complete polish and FLON4000 PTFE treatment (end of may)
- Other headunit that plays the tunes from my iPhone 5S without problems, streaming audio preferably.
- Lowering by Billstein B14 or alternatives
- Some more Carbon parts
- Smoke rear lights

Really like the Sparco or Alutec alloys for the Punto Evo if not going for Oz, imagine they might have 17s that fit 500s!

Another fave of mines for looks/price:

http://www.wheelbasealloys.com/alloy-wheels/msw/85/gun-metal/17-inch

http://www.wheelbasealloys.com/alloy-wheels/msw/25/matt-titanium-polished/17-inch

http://www.wheelbasealloys.com/alloy-wheels/samurai/spec-b/black/17-inch

http://www.wheelbasealloys.com/alloy-wheels/speedline/turini/anthracite/17-inch

My pick of the bunch before you start getting into £1000+ prices and Oz territory.

The Traklite Clutch looks sweet, but for the real concave look, I would have to go to 17x9. Had an American who is running those on a 500 tell me they need 3mm spacers in the front and 5 mm in the back.

Photos:

(http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll209/thunder1976nl/Abarth%20500/th_Traklite%20Clutch.jpg) (http://s289.photobucket.com/user/thunder1976nl/media/Abarth%20500/Traklite%20Clutch.jpg.html)

Just asked MOTmotorsport for a quote on 2 17x7.5 (want them a bit smaller in the front) and 2 17x9 wheels including taxes and shipment. Anyone have experience with this shop?

Your alternatives are nice, but not the style I am looking for. Love deep rims and concave rims, just need them to stay inside the wheelarches.

Fair enough, I understand it is all down to personal opinion. I like the SS wheels hence why most of the ones I chose apart from one are similar in style to the SS wheels on my car haha! ;)

Those ones you have picked do look nice, slightly too deep for my liking but I like the style of them, remind me of the Romeo Ferraris A500 which is lovely  ;)

I am glad we all don't have the same taste. We all would be running the same setup and there would be nothing to talk about on a forum like this.  ;D ;D  :thumb:

Couldn't agree more!

It seems even the abarth stripes and matching mirrors divide opinion, never mind different exhaust set ups or alloy wheels  ;D

Finally I have made my decision and I bought the Pogea Racing XCUT 18" wheels in silver. Size: 18x8 ET27 with 4x98. Maybe in the future I will have them made golden, but for now, the waiting game starts.

The Traklites were not a option, because the only were made in matt black and they would take more than 3 months to be made. And they only made them in 4x100 for the 7.5J and 4x98 or 4x100 for the 9J.

I have been thinking and considering many wheels, but the XCUT's looks the part and the are made for the Abarth 500. Max Concave design.

Fitted!

The rear is a bit lower than seen on the pictures. Parked the car a bit too far down the garage driveway. I'm very happy with the result. The pictures don't do justice to the depth of the concave. You need to see them in real life.

This week I ordered and placed my smoke LED rear lights. The standing light and brakelight are LED, the turnsignal, reverse and foglight are the normal bulbs. No errors. The standing lights are a little less clear than the normal bulbs, but at night that won't be a problem. Will try make some nightshots soon.

Youtube:

small video airing up and down (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cS7Vy1vQgJM)

Still need to work out some details. In the back, the body sits on the wheels when airing out. Not problematic, but hope the DNA camberplates will correct this. And the controllpanel needs to get to its final place.

Title: Re: TheGrolschFirm 500

They are very real. When the tyre slips behind the fender, they look huge. Before they looked big, but not too big.

Like I said, it need some small adjustments. Ordered my DNA racing camberplates just yet, hope they will be here soon. Then the wheels in the back will tuck in a bit more, allowing more travel and the refitting of the Airrex dampers. Can't wait, because at the moment, the alignment is off. Steeringwheel is slightly off to the right and pulls a little. But don't want to do it twice in 2 weeks. ;)

Do you have any pics of what the car looks like on the 16" Team Dynamics on moderately lowered (see ~2-3cm lower than stock) ride height?

This is a setup I am interested in hence the question. Thanks.

I want bigger brakes in the future and 16" is a nogo then.

Just came back from reallignment. Car was way off in the tracking, which resulted in very unpredictable behaviour. Now she drive like it should be again.  :) Very happy now. The camberplates have some leadtime, have to be patient. But for now, I can drive and enjoy my 500 again. :)

Nice one.

Just fitted DNA Rear camber plates myself. Nice little bit of kit.

Question: Do these plates come instead of a normal plate or do they add to the total package? If the latter, the thickness of the plates will reduce the space I will win in terms of clearance. I calculated that the edge of the rim will come in 7.5mms, but without taking in account the thickness of the plate.

They literally slide in behind the stub axle so technically they do add to the width but it will be very minimal, there is nothing to them.

I am running 17 x 8 et30.

Next project will be the carbon dash. Already have it at home, but need an exchange because the panel has a scratch around the 3 buttons. Exterior alterations will come to make all chrome gold and respray the wheels to gold/gold-black.

Small Update:

(almost) all Stickers have been replaced with Gold Chrome ones. The rear wiper is gone and some Carbon Mirror Covers have been installed. (tape was just for extra adhesion)

Photobucket suddenly changing ToS and stopping 3rd party hosting, which used to be their startingpoint. This results in 3 threads (dutch/english/german) to be totally thrashed, because the pictures are no longer visible and all threads can't be edited fully....  >:( >:( >:(

Sorry, I am working on a solution of my own to prevent this from happening again....

I have posted most pictures back on Flickr, just can't edit the previous entries.

But to compensate for that, these are some new ones:

The last one is a teaser for my showinstall Airride. It has not been completed yet, some parts had to be custom made and will arrive late next week. When all is installed, I will post some detailed pictures. :)

This weekend I won my first best of show. This was a charity meeting for the foodbank in Nieuwegein. We raised a lot of goods for them and had a nice meeting while doing it. :)

Since the first show is now over, I can show some more of my showinstall airride.

Tanks will be mounted differently in the near future and all the black airhoses will be replaced by hardlines in a different color. Also ordered a rear spoiler extension at MS Racing. :)

The car season is coming to an end. Plans for next year are new lugnuts, the CAE Ultra Shifter, Sabelt Seats and some more carbon. And very maybe some new wheels. :)

A lot has changed over the  course of more than a year. Totally forgot about this thread.

Last year, I have added a lot to the car or changed stuff that was not to my liking.

First of all, my wheels needed a new finish. They were ceramic polished to a high gloss chrome like finish, then a candy gold powdercoat has been applied. My wheelnuts were of terrible quality, so bought new ones from VMS Racing in steel with .50 calibre 24k Bullet "caps" that screw on.

(https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1748/42493404181_5c9cc95efd_z.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/27JZNBF)

Shifter was replaced with the CAE Ultrashifter anodised black. Mounted at the factory in Essen and cut the trim to keep it visible.

All lights were replaced with Series 4 lights. Dipped are original S4, DRL and rear lights are custom versions by MS-Racing.

Diffusor in the back has been exchanged by a custom S4 for S3 Carbon Diffusor with Carbon Italian Flag. Sideskirt extensions in Carbon and a Carbon front splitter with italian detail. All made by Koshi Group.

(https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1760/41590602015_e73ffddfe4_k.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/26ndGZ6)

During the year, my carbon mirror cover were fading, so these had to go. Polishing only helped for a few weeks. Replaced them with gold carbon caps (not covers) from Koshi.

(https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1777/43964106772_98c68028b9_z.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/29YXxfU)

Latest addition I have been hunting after for more than 1.5 years. They are pretty rare, expensive and hard to find. 4 Sets were sold in that timeframe, but the fifth set was finally mine. The Carbon backed Sabelts....

(https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4893/31412660357_47fe2813c0_z.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/PRQ6wn)

And some small other thing have been done, like rehanging the airtanks with nice brackets, gold flaked stickers/decals.

For this winter I have some plans. Biposto flat Antenna, Lowering brackets for the Sabelts, custom Fire extinguisher in front of passenger seat, new Subwoofer since the old one didn't fit anymore, and gold carbon trim for the moustache, doorhandles and boothandle. But don't know how much will be done by the start of the new season. Depends on funds and the sale of the old interior. ;)
