Got feedback?
« on: October 21, 2008, 12:05:20 pm »
AbarthForum.co.uk is something of an experiment.

Can the UK support a dedicated Abarth forum?

What features should the forum have?

What works well, and what needs changing?

Your feedback is welcome...

Hi, bit quiet on here, but I guess its early days.

I hope this takes off, as I think a decent dedicated Abarth forum would be handy. I'm a bit disappointed to see they haven't added an Abarth sub forum on the FiatForum, so instead all the Abarth discussion has to run along with all the other Punto and 500 chat.

Yup, only two days old so far, but we need all the help we can get.  If you know of anyone who might like to join, do please let them know.

Are you allowed to 'pimp' the forum on places like the FiatForum? There are plenty of fans there, and like you said in another thread, its nice to have somewhere away from the general hubbub of the Fiat model talk, especially due to the endless 'its too expensive' comments.

I'd rather people deliberately steered clear of doing anything that might upset anyone.

However, if there are specific people you talk to that you think might be interested, can't do any harm to let them know.

Even though not a viable financial option for me at the moment I've learn't a great deal about a car I'd love to own one day and this will inevitably help with decision making in the future. Good forum!

People do get very, tetchy, as you say. Although what you suggest is a good compromise, I'd be wary of even that, I've heard of other equally tetchy forums getting very annoyed about such things.

I'll spread it to those I know, fiat forum is the biggest location of likely members though.

(Keep is simple stupid :D )

Looks good for now, try not to makes things too complicated so it's easy for folks to chat (I'm a longterm member of Rennteam and they've recently done a load of changes that, for now at least, are driving folks away), and don't take anything personally.... thanks for pulling  it together though - hopefully the start of something 'beautiful' ;)

I'm more than happy with the forum as it is. Having been a member of some Porsche forums in the past it can get a bit cliquey.

The only suggestion I'd put forward is maybe to have a technical bit too? I'd be happy to put forward my comments on engines and associated bits (having worked at Cosworth in BTCC and DTM, Lotus and now Jaguar, I feel reasonably comfortable having an opinion  ;D) and would be interested to see people comment on things like suspension or tyre choices etc.
The important thing is not to get too deep and lose people in the jargon.

Like the idea, Chumley - perhaps that would work best as a subset of each model's forum, rather than lumping it all together, although I suspect this is one for later on when things get busier.

Incidentally, I've noticed people seem reluctant to start new topics at the moment, but will happily reply to existing ones.

If you've noticed something quirky about your car, if something funny happened to you today while driving it, if there's something interesting in your driving history, or if there's a simple question that's niggling away at you, do please just go for it and start a thread.

I have been on many forums over the year and find this one of the best.

keep it simple is always the best way, the people on here generally make a forum work and there seems to be a good bunch with a gr8 sense of humour all going in the same direction which ofcourse is the abarth.

    I have a few things.

    1) photos - I understand if we start uploading photo's to your server, storage could be an issue, but you could have a max size, it would make it easier.
    2) facebook & Twitter, I am following you on twitter, but I think the FB thing is popular too, create a fan page, deffo worth it and helps spread the word.

apart from that, I love it here, everyone has made me feel very welcome, and I was quite surprised at the passion for the little car, having now spent the night with it  ::) I understand  ;)
