Love the shots in the snow. We don't get anything like that here in the UK.

Love that iPad mini install!  :-*

Can you elaborate more about this work of art?

Really hate my standard radio and still looking for a decent upgrade, preferably with iPad (mini) so I can have my own navigation and streaming audio.

    Cyberdog - great build!

Can you elaborate on TMC ECU tuned MTA Competizione gearbox?

How did it change the transmission? Is it noticeably faster? Would you recommend it?

Can you elaborate more about this work of art?

Really hate my standard radio and still looking for a decent upgrade, preferably with iPad (mini) so I can have my own navigation and streaming audio.

What I did was get a 2DIN frame for the Fiat 500 without the vent holes.
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Einbaurahmen-Set-fur-Doppel-DIN-Autoradio-in-Fiat-500-500C-2008-2015/332158981417?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D44293%26meid%3D251482ffe99f491e89de320e8e2d2d05%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D332157211207

I also got a 1 DIN DAB+ Radio (Norway switches off the FM network this year)  I got the Kenwood KDC-X7100DAB beacuase of it's dual rear mounted USB connections. I also got the steering wheel adapter for the Kenwood

I bought a iPad Mini slide kit from Soundman

    https://soundmanca.com/products/sideslider

To skin the finished product I got a carbon skinning kit from Easy Composites

I cut the 2 din mount metal so that I didn't have to cut the vents.  I also made the hole in the 2 DIN kit larger to fit the ipad Mini sde slider kit.

I glued them together and used glassfibre to create a shape. If I do it again I will use a glassfibre filler instead.

The dremel and sandpaper is in heavy use to shape and sand everything down and then i used a body filler and more sanding to prepare the surface for carbon skinning.

    Painted black

I have now skinned it but not done the last sanding before a final layer of epoxy and wetsand and polish.

If I'd ever do it again I would not skin the inside as it got too thi\ck and had to be sanded back.

here is a video of the skinning process

The shifts are marginally faster, but the shifts on the Tributo is pretty fast to begin with.  But it also opens up allowing more torque and is why it is recommended with the ECU tune to get the most out of that.

Thanks for the pictures and explanation.  :thumb: Too bad I don't have your fabrication skills or the room to do such extended work on those parts.   :'(

Really love how you made it blend into the dashboard. Looks really well.  :-*

Never done anything like this before, so no fabrication skills here :)   It ended up functional but far from perfect. :)

Beautiful car and country. I especially like the snowy pics. I drove there once on a frozen lake, great fun!

    Great DIY work, too!
