Unable to update Sat Nav (TomTom) on 2017 595
« on: January 17, 2020, 10:34:43 am »
Hello,

I am trying to update my TomTom integrated SatNav on my 2017 595 Competizione 180 but it fails...

I have:

 - A new USB key stick formatted to Fat32.
 - Downloaded the latest .zip file and extracted to the stick as per instructions (Including the license file)

I plug the stick in to the car socket after all start up routines are complete and the car is running. It then picks up the stick asks me if I want to continue which I acknowledge and it seems to start but will always then fail with a code "Update failed(0xa40000)". I remove the USB stick and try again but the error repeats.

Anyone had this or know what it means? The car is under 3 years old so the 3 year map update should still apply?

Hoping the combined wisdom may have an answer as most Abarth dealers seem unwilling or unable to help?

Best regards,

David :thumb:

While the old 'Blue & Me' were able to update via USB, it was always a bit hit and miss.

One thing I did discover was the quality of the USB stick matters.

Are you using a 'top' quality stick?

    Hello,

Thanks for that - The stick is (I think) a good one - KINGSTON and 32GB - One would think that would be OK.

    Still looking for an answer....

    Hello,

By way of closing this off the car went to PMS in Haverfordwest for a 3 year service and they performed a free software update to remove the code I was getting.

I then downloaded version 1040 from the Mopar website (4 x map files and 1 x licence file) and tried again. This time it went through the upgrade of the maps as expected and is now running then latest available version with a map date of October 2019.

As you only get free updates for the first 3 years I suspect if I want newer ones in the future I will have to pay for them... Unless they release a new one before the 17th of the month  ;D

    Best regards,
